It's often raining in the NW and the visitors center is a great FREE space to play! A diorama with a huge Elk, native animal footprints to touch and entire room full of puzzles, puppets, books and activities devoted just to children!!! Toddlers can crawl up and down the carpeted stairs and use a wooden carving of a cougar to stand on. Preschoolers will love the mini ranger station and puppets while Elementary students can get into lots of drawers full of activities. You could spend an hour or more having a FREE educational, fun in a dry area. There is a store with books and other items to buy right when you walk in. Ask the ranger for the key to the children's room and you are all set!
