Before heading out to explore the tide pools this is a great first stop to learn about the environment and etiquette.
Port Angeles is located about 150 miles west of Puget Sound cities of Seattle and Tacoma.
What it lacks in size it makes up for in great touch tanks and extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff. Toddlers to teenagers will enjoy feeling a sea star, watching shrimp swim and hopefully peeking at the shy octopus. The staff are eager to help and obviously love the ocean and creatures. Slow down, take your time and ask questions and it will be the most educational little stop you've made all day.
Be sure to walk down Front St. to the Odyssey bookstore, have breakfast or lunch at the First Street Haven (near the fountain, next to the Toggery) and hopefully be there when the Farmer's Market is going on just up the block at the Gateway (clock tower on First St.)
