Old Fort Jackson is an awesome place to take a step back into history. There are daily cannon firings, as well. This was mainly used during the war of 1812 and teh civil war, as it stands on the Savannah River. It became the Confederate headquarters during the war between the states. We had an absolutely amazing time here visiting!
Ships pass by going into port, so makes for great water views also. You can also request a tour guide, who will tell you all of the significant history.
Cannonball firing! Check their website to see what time they will fire, was my favorite part. A smaller fort, but cargo ships pass by CLOSE, and we spotted dolphins from the top =)
Bay Street East through downtown Savannah. There will be a sign, take a left on Fort Jackson Road., just follow the signs. definitely worth a trip for any history buff, and the staff are very eager to tell any stories they know. Also listed as one of Savannahs most haunted places.
