The Old Faithful Inn, located right next to Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, will most likely interest parents more than children. The "log cabin" is huge, and there's a lot to look at; the kiddos will love the elk-horn candelabras, and the grown-ups will enjoy the history throughout the Inn. The Old Faithful Inn gets VERY crowded in the summer, however, so if your kids don't do well in crowds, be prepared. Either way, hold on to those little hands, because it's easy to get separated if you plan on going in July or August.
This is probably the most unusual rustic style lodge I've ever seen. The spectacular 5 storey lobby and towering fire place is impressive. Walk as far up as you can and experience the lovely gathering places available at each level of the inn. Admire the amazing jigsaw of naturally shaped tree limbs holding up the entire structure.
Think your kids might be bored with the architectural marvel? Think again. My 5 year old's first building project on his return home was to recreate the "log hotel" with his set of Lincoln Logs.
