This zoo is a wonderful place to take kids of all ages. The price of the tickets are not to bad. A family of 4 is $26. But I would say to bring a lunch and drinks with you. That can add up fast. But it is a great place to take the family! And try to get there early so its not so busy.
The OKC zoo is a very well laid out and very enjoyable place to take your family. It has great exhibits but where it really shines is in the layout and things for kids to do. The new children's playground includes water play and rope play where children can climb ropes while watching monkeys also climb and play. It is a very relaxed zoo and also very affordable.
We have been to many zoos and this was was pretty good. It was nicely kept up and the animals looked great. It has been several years since we went there. We were lucky and most of the animals were out and about. The admission and the food was reasonably priced. The parking was not bad either. It was also not too crowded which was very nice!
I took my 20 year old son & 6 year old daughter to the OC Zoo while on vacation and all of us agreed it was a beautiful zoo! We found the exhibits to be interesting, the grounds very clean, and variety of animal life extensive. The animal statues through out the park made for great photo ops as well. We ended a fun day with pedal boats on the lake!
We really enjoyed our trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo! First off, just walking up to the front gate you can see how beautiful the landscaping is in the zoo! I would guess it has all been redone in the past few years. The animals were out and looked great! There were play areas and sculptures and a lot of great picture opportunities!
I have always been someone to love animals and zoo's. I, being someone who has been to the zoo in San Diego, am not too impressed with this zoo. But, it is an okay one for Oklahoma. Right now, all the elephants are in Tulsa so they can mate, so I was disappointed in not seeing any elephants. I would still take children to this zoo if you were looking for a fun activity. My kids had fun, but were ready to go home after an hour and a half or so. Food was also really expensive here. I would suggest bringing food with you if you have hungry munchkins like I do!
This is a really nice place to go with kids. OSU Botanical Garden is located at main campus of OSU. It is beautiful at spring and summer. It is very educational for kids. Also you can talk to people who work there to get more information on plant species. It is free for everyone and open pretty much all the week.
The Oklahoma City zoo is a major step up from the Tulsa zoo! I went with a school field trip and was truely impressed. Their kids area is simply amazing! The place where you could feed the birds and they would land on you was the kids in my groups favorite part! The elephants were gone which was sad, but they will be back after mating. This is one of the best zoo's I've been to and I would encourage you to go and take the whole family!
We've gone to the Oklahoma City Zoo several times over the last few years and we've always enjoyed it. They have a lot of animals and a great gift shop. The only thing we were disappointed by was the elephants were relocated to a different zoo for breeding purposes. Great zoo though, my kids love it.
This is one of the best zoos we have ever been to. It is a HUGE place with plenty to see and do. Not only is it fun but it is clean and oozes with friendliness. The exhibits are awesome and even little ones will be able to see the animals. We can't wait to go back!
The zoo is an inexpensive trip for the entire family. Of course the best option is to purchase a zoo membership for the entire year as they are open year round. There are many exhibits to visit at the zoo, and the best part is the there are not only outdoor exhibits, but indoor as well that will provide some relief from the hot weather during the summer. The zoo offers many vendors and restrooms throughout the park to make your visit easier, and provides many benches throughout the zoo to easily rest.
The Oklahoma City Zoo, is a really good zoo, though not quite great. They just opened a new Children's Zoo area, which my 9 yr old girls had a lot of fun. The biggest drawback is that there could be some more shady spots to get out of the heat. We went in May and it was already pretty warm, definitely could have used some more shade or even some misters to help cool us down.
The Elephant exhibit is currently uninhabited as they are up in Tulsa on a "date" which the OKC Zoo has done a good job of relating the details of along the fence line. The inside could use with some deep cleaning while it stands empty and updating as well.
Our family loves the OKC Zoo! The Summer Zoo Camps are great! We just went to the Tuesday Safari Story Time last week and it was big fun! The boys are nuts about the new Children's Zoo inside of the OKC Zoo- we have gone just to spend a few hours there climbing, splashing and feeding the birdies!
Great fun!!!
This is a fun place to go with kids especially when you're not in a hurry. This is a very large zoo, so I recommend getting a tram pass that takes you around the zoo and stops in several places where you can get off and on. the downside to this is they do not allow strollers on the tram. There are 2 different playground areas when the parents need a rest :) and one of my kids favorite things are the animal statues all around that you can climb on and where we usually take pictures. I would recommend you bringing your own snacks and drinks. The merry-go-round is $1 a ride, which I think is too expensive, so we usually don't ride it. There is also a dolphin show which is $2 a person, but it lasts much longer than the carousel. Overall, we enjoy going to this zoo!
We try to go to the OKC zoo at least once a year, when we go visit family. My 3 year old never gets bored! When we went in May they had a dinosaur exhibit and he thought it was awesome! They were redoing the children's area so that should be ready by next year!
