Covering more than 16,127 acres, October Mountain is the largest of the stateforests. Most people come here to hike (the Applachian Trail is one of the best known), fish, or boat, but in the winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails have a following as well. There are forty-five campsites, flush toilets, and showers. No swimming. TIP: Watch out—you are in bear country!
