"A great family hike"

We hiked this trail with our 4 kids and were pleased that our little 2 year old girl could walk the whole way.  It's the first time we've ALL enjoyed hiking.  The 1/4 to 1/2 mile trail followed the creek and was framed by arching oak trees and sycamores and there were several bridges to cross.  That was fun for all our kids.

The waterfall was really fun to see and was much higher than I anticipated.  You can walk right up to it and put your hands under the water or touch the rock wall that it is coming down.  I was also surprised to learn that the rock wall behind the waterfall is actually GROWING... in the same manner that cave formations grow.  Because of deposited minerals left by the water, the rocks actually look like a waterfall too.  You'll have to see it to understand what I mean.  It's really worth checking out and enjoying!

Our family enjoyed a picnic lunch down at the park and playground below the waterfall trail.  Beautiful old oaks and trees and open space made for a beautiful day.

Notes:
* Dress in warm layers.  The trail to the falls can be cold even in the summer due to it's location, the water, and lots of shade.
* A jogging stroller could make it up the trail, but there is a small section of stairs made from stones.  I could see an unintended trail to the left of the stairs probably made by other strollers.  It would be a push over some bumps but a jogging stroller could make it.

"Neat, but nothing special"

We did this hike several years ago and were pretty disappointed.  The hike is really only a short walk and the water fall is really not that exciting...I guess after you've seen Yosemite nothing would be as breathtaking.  If you're in the area stop by to see it, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

"Fun with the Family"

This 182-acre site is worth a visit to see the 164-foot waterfall (after a rainy season, ofcourse). Head for the waterfall on the well-marked trail. Plenty of picnic spots, barbcue grills, a playground, and places to savor your Danish treats.
