The Edison Theater / Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum is a restored theater from the early 1900s. This small theater / museum has an interesting history as it was in the same neighborhood as the Essanay Production Studio which produced Bronco Billy westerns and some Charlie Chaplin films including the Tramp.
There isn't an actual age limit, but the room is small with wooden fold-down theater seats. If a young child was fussy, everyone would be very distracted.
Every Saturday night at 7:30 the Edison Theater shows 3 or 4 silent films with live piano music--excellently done. Before the film starts they have a local film historian give a short background on the film or the actor. People young and old come out and fill the place on Saturday for only $5 per person. Those old slapstick comedies are best enjoyed among 50-75 other people laughing out loud.
