Niagara Falls State Park on the US side features a restaurant at the Top of the Falls Restaurant, a tour which lets visitors walk right up to the base of Niagara Falls called the Cave of the Winds tour, or the the Maid of the Mist® boat ride that takes you right to the bottom of the falls.
If you want to see one of the wonders of the world Niagara Falls is the place for you. This is one one the best place to take kids to appreciate nature at its best, If you go please take the small boat that gets you closer it is well worth it! The United States waterfall is a sight to see but the Canadian side is truly majestic and well worth the trip.Remember Canada is awfully cold year round so make sure to bring jackets and accessories when visiting.
Niagara Falls is breathtaking. You might want to take your children here when they can remember the experience. Bring your camera, some money for souvenirs, snacks, and sun block in the summer, even though its further north you can still get sun burnt. I recommend visiting the great lakes while you are on this trip. I still have a couple sea shells, yes i said sea shells, from my visit as a child. I walked the beach with my family and had a picnic, one of my favorite memories. If you want to visit the Canada side, don't forget your passport. I recommend at least visiting Canada, there are some fun things to do in the surrounding areas of the Niagara Falls.
Oh what to say about Niagara Falls ?!? Its the best place to go on vacation. Words cannot describe the amazing view you get to see. And definitely do try the attractions."Maid Of The Mist" is the best. Any age can go on it from both American and Canadian side, but experience tells me lines are shorter on Canadian side. On American side it took us 4 hours !! Also the Canadian side is better as it has all the cool museums and rides and other attractions. The Skylon Tower is amazing and the ride up is in clear elevator so you can see as you are going up. Then the view from atop is great and you are outdoors. Also go to the "Gorge" where they have a wired cable car that you can ride from one side to the other, then back. And underneath you are the big whirlpools. Its kind of scary cause you are at great height but fun. And The kids will surely enjoy "Clifton Hill" on Canadian Side which has lot of activities and shops. Oh, and if you want to buy souvenirs from Canadian side I would suggest driving to "Lundys Lane" about 5 minutes from falls, and going to the dollar stores as the shpops near the falls are ridiculously expensive and the dollar stores there have some pretty nice stuff !!
We spent 1 night/ 2 days at Niagara Falls. The first day, we did all of the touristy things in Niagara on the Canadian side- Ripley's museum (kind of fun but $$), a haunted house (save your money) and saw the falls. Stayed at a B&B half way between downtown and Niagara on the Lake. Did wine tasting all afternoon and winery tours! Had a great romantic dinner. Saw the falls at night. Awesome breakfast, took a long hike around Niagara on the Lake, stopped at some roadside farm markets. Next time we'll save time for the Maid of the Mist...
I would highly recommend visiting Niagara Falls to anyone who gets the opportunity to go! The views alone are worth the trip, but the different tours make the trip even better. We took a tour called Journey Behind the Falls which allowed you to walk behind some of the less powerful areas. They geared you up with a yellow poncho and some slip-proof shoes and took you on a close up tour of the falls. If you plan to take a tour like this, plan to get wet! I would suggest going on any tour available because they allow you experience the beauty and amazement at a greater level!
You can see Niagara Falls from the american or canadian side. There's the horseshoe falls on the canadian side, the american falls on the american side, & the Bridal Veil Falls on the american side. Its a honeymoon spot, for sure..as well, as a family attraction. Itll take your breath away. The Skylon Tower is also nearby, climb to the top to see a magnificent view!
Niagara Falls i one of those places that everyone is aware of and likely has seen in pictures or movies. All I can say is nothing compares to the real thing. It is hard to imagine the sheer size and force of the falls without actually being there. The park itself is very nice with many picnic tables in grassy areas at the top of the falls. If time and money allows the boat tour would also be very exciting.
This is such a fascinating place to visit. I suggest taking the time to see all there is to see. there are several cute little souvenir shops to browse through. You'll want to wear your slicker if you choose to take the ferry across. Well worth the money and getting drenched.
Call me a nerd but one of my favorite trips of all times was to my brother's wedding in Toronto and on the way back I had the pleasure of taking my 86 year old grandma and my 3 little kids to Niagara Falls. Grandma had been there for her honeymoon at the age of 19 and had not been back since.
We stayed in one of the roadside type inns that had a view of the falls and could literally lie in bed and see the lights on the falls at night and had a little patio where you could hear the water even from several blocks away.
While the Niagara Falls area has gotten very touristy (many of the same attractions as Gatlinburg) it is definitely a destination in and of itself with many things within walking distance of our hotel/motel.
One of my favorite parts of the trip is seeing all of the lovebirds/newlyweds. I'm a sucker for tradition.
On the subject of the Falls themselves, standing next to the railing right at the drop off point is something I still dream about and helped fuel my childhood fascination of stories of people who went over them in barrels.
I agree with everyone who said the Canadian view is a must see and this is a huge reason we are fulfulling a family goal this year to get our passports so we can come and go as we please across the Canadian boarder. It seems no matter where you go you can still hear the rush of the water and a mist seems to cover the city bringing a cool relief on a hot summer day.
There are many things to do with kids all over the Niagara area but for my kids, the main attraction were the Falls themselves. Plan to do lots of walking so a stroller for the little kids and comfortable walking shoes for the rest of the family are in order.
WOW..its amazing no words to tell..we had great great time with all our family members we did alot of fun in that park especially my kids love trekaroo drinks very much their and they enjoyed a lot with their friends.we liked very much anda saw all the near by attractions with all of them.
Everyone needs to go to Niagra Falls at least once in their life! It is the most beautifully breathtaking site! The park is not very large but is very clean and well kept. It is very interesting to see across the falls into Canada (and the Canada side is an even better view). There is nothing more glorious than visiting the falls on a summer day and getting hit in the face by the beautiful cool mist. There aren't a ton of activities but most kids will love being outside anywhere and will think the falls are super cool.
We visited Niagara Falls this summer with our two and a half year old daughter. There was ample parking and lots of activities. Overall, Niagara Falls was a very fun place to visit. You get a great view of the Falls, plus a beautiful park to explore. We did not eat there, but the Top of the Falls Restaurant looked great, and what a fantastic view to enjoy while grabbing a meal! We will definitely be back. I would definitely recommend visiting this park if you come to Niagara Falls.
All I can say is WOW! Niagara may not be the tallest falls I have ever seen but they are certainly some of the most impressive. Massive amounts of water pour over its edges every second and staring at the tip of the falls made me feel like I was staring at the ends of the earth. We took the cave tour which took us behind the falls and gave us an interesting perspective. Make sure to use those ponchos they give you because the mist coming off the falls will drench you! Be sure to head on over to the Canadian side of the falls for an atmosphere that is alot less "theme park".
