New York Water Taxi
add photosNew York Water Taxi operates a network of water taxis (the big yellow boats you see on the harbor) and docks, allowing visitors to get around Manhattan quickly and with a fabulous view. They've partnered with Bike and Roll, one of NYC's bicycle rental operations, to offer the Bike the Brooklyn Bridge Water Taxi Back tour. This tour, which includes bike rentals and water taxi tickets, departs daily at 2 pm from Pier 84, but you can do it yourself as well. We choose the latter, and biked with our family from Pier 84 to the Battery on paved bike paths, then took well-marked bike lanes to the Brooklyn Bridge. Once we'd crossed it, we boarded the water taxi from Brooklyn back to Pier 84.
The ride took us about two hours, but the nice part of doing it yourself is that you have the bikes all day, so you can stretch the bike portion of this trip as long as you'd like. Maybe stop for lunch along the way, or at least some photo ops: the views of the Statue of Liberty and Financial District are wonderful!

"New York Water Taxi"
Bike the Brooklyn Bridge with your family with New York Water Taxi and NYC's Bike and Roll. It's a great way to see Manhattan with kids, and it's easy to navigate the city on the bike paths. Kids have more fun than if they were walking, too. We loved that our bike rentals came with water taxi vouchers using their Bike the Brooklyn Bridge/Water Taxi Back package, but New York Water Taxi also offers Hop On, Hop Off tickets to enable families to explore the waterways of NYC all day long.
