This is a great way to spend the day with your family! I am really looking to The Edible Garden exhibit! According to the NYBG website, it looks like there will be lots of fun family activities. Check out my review here:

My granddaughter can only take so much looking without exercising her busy legs. the New York Botanical Garden was a perfect place to do that. We went to the Train Exhibit and spent equal amount of time looking at the trains and running through the paths. The garden is beautiful in the winter and not crowded. If you live close by would recommend it. if you have to travel, wait until the flowers are in bloom. Ah food, was expensive for feeding kids.
The Botanical Gardens is in the Bronx and not very far from the Bronx Zoo. It offers lots of different activities year round. In the warmer months the different foliage and flowers look stunning all over the grounds. They have demonstrations and right now they're teaching people all about different edible flowers and plants. In the winter months you can escape in the warmer areas where tropical plants thrive inside the glass encased areas conservatories.
Located next door to the Bronx Zoo, this 250-acre verdant oasis offers twenty-seven outdoor gardens to stroll, ranging from rose to rock to rhoddendron. The jewel of this horticultural haven is the Enid A. Haupt Conservtory, the country’s largest Victorian crystal palace, filled with the fragrance of exotic and unusual tropical and desert plants from around the world.
In winter this glorious glass house hosts “A Vitorian Holiday,” with G-scale trains running past dozens of miniture replicas of New York’s most famous century-old mansions, built entirely from leaves, twigs, and acorns. Outside, trails wind through stands of 300-year-old trees and past the only freshwater river in the city. Discovery carts dot the paths, offering interesting flora facts and hands-on activities.
A newer addition is the wonderful Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, a twelve-acre discovery zone for families. When the tootsies get tired, hop aboard the narrated tram traversing the trails of the garden or stop for a snack at the Garden Cafe.
