New Years Day Polar Bear Dip

"Fun for older kiddos"

This year, some members of my family decided to take part in the Cayucos Polar Bear Dip on New Years Day.  Basically, it's an event where thousands of people line and crowd the beach to run into the ocean and try to swim around the pier.  This past year, only 14 people actually received the "Polar Bear" title and swam around the pier, but it's still a lot of fun to watch.  They have a costume judging contest before hand and I must add, some of the costumes can be a little racy.  I think one man even went without anything on.  We definitely stayed away from that area.   :)  If you go down the beach a little further, it's a little less crowded and you still get to partake in all the excitement.  Or, you can be like me and take pictures of your crazy family members from the pier.  :)
