Though the theme of Salem is mannequin displays, this museum had something that others lack. A guide/actor who made it fun. Dressed in pirate clothes and talking like a pirate, he had us wave to a mannequin and say "Hi, Joe" and the one couple who didn't were teased into saying Hi to Joe. The kids laughed and laughed! The guide stayed in character through the entire tour and was extremely knowledgeable.
Salem is full of Witch and Maritime museums, so this unique museum caught our eye. This was the museum we had the most fun in! Our guide/host was so animated and exciting you couldn't help but have fun. This was the most unusual place on our Massachusetts trip and the one we enjoyed the most!
With the ever-soaring popularity of the movie Pirates of the Carribbean, hunker down to the New England Pirate Museum for Pirates of the North Shore, to view our local swashbucklers! Buried treasure and pirates are actually part of the North Shore’s history. This attraction has it all; it’s educational, historical, and fun for kids (what kid isn’t interested in pirates, pirate maps, and buried treasure?) who enjoy learning about the local looters such as Blackbeard and Captain Kidd. The museum takes about thirty minutes to view all the displays.
The information here is so different from the other museums that it's great! Perfect with kids who like pirate history!
