Great for the train lover! There are tons of model train displays in all scales set up. There are 5 large layouts featuring hundreds of trains and all visitors have the opportunity to help operate them with the interactive fatures.
The kids will be intrigued and entertained because there is a good view from many angles and the displays are low enough even for the little ones! There are train videos playing on large tv screens and there is also a vintage train display.
For those wishing to learn more about toy trains there is a reference library with an extensive collection. There is also a museum store for great soveneir finds.
Kids under 6 are FREE! I love when the kids are free! Note: they are closed in the winter. Check their website for operating hours.
The website posted in the info section is incorrect. The correct webiste is www.nttmuseum.org
This museum features metal electric trains and five operating layouts with buttons for the kids to push. And they let you blow the whistle! There is also a short video, plus display cases full of trains. The museum’s theater shows cartoons and comedy films about trains. The gift shop offers a great selection of train-related toys.
Although I can't be certain, I think that Strasburg may the train capital of the USA. The National Toy Train Museum is a little gem that helps make that statement true. It's a great collection of working toy trains and dioramas. Its not possible to take in all of the little details but your kids will definitely love the overwhelming sights and sounds of this place.
