"Nice zoo"

We visited the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere a few summers ago with our kiddos.  Although it was sweltering hot, we still managed to enjoy ourselves.  The animal exhibits were great.  And we enjoyed the scenery, especially at the entrance.  I would definitely recommend taking your family to the Nashville Zoo.

"Much improved!"

Ten, or even five, years ago I would have told you to not waste your money at the Nashville Zoo. However, they have taken great strides to improve this zoo over the years. There are more animals to see than ever before including elephants and giraffes. Your kids will LOVE the giant playground area, which is sturdy enough for you to play on as well. A great spot to visit!

"Great zoo!!"

We went to this zoo because we were able to get in free (from a membership to an aquarium we had) and it was amazing!!
We went during the summer, so it was nice that they offered "cool off zones" with water mist stations. Make sure to bring drinks and wear comfortable shoes, this place is big and you'll want to see everything!
They rent strollers if you forget yours, at a reasonable cost :) Great staff!!

"Always a Hit"

My kids (5y, 3y, 5 mo) love going to this zoo. They can practically walk the entire course (although I would recommend bringing a stroller). The huge wooden playscape is fabulous, and my kids could spend hours on that alone. They also love the petting zoo, where they can brush the goats. The donkeys are loud and always make the kids laugh. The animals are pretty impressive too. We've had giraffes walk right up to the fence. Both of my daughters enjoy the critter area where there are numerous spiders, snakes, and fish for easy viewing. The carousel is beautiful, fun, and always a special treat! This zoo has also done an incredible reaching out to the local military community, with free events for us as well!

"Great place for a day trip"

We had the most wonderful time spending the day at this zoo! It was a fairly easy walk, and they had a good variety of animals. They also have a bird sacntuary (can't think of the name), but you can go in and feed the birds out of a cup. It was awesome! If you're patient enough, they will come up to you and sit on your head or shoulders.
The merkats were some of our personal favorites, and the white tigers!
We will be going back!

"Kid Friendly for all Ages! "

I am a new mom and am excited to get an annual pass for the Nashville Zoo to use when it gets a little warmer out. I thought I would need to wait until he was older, but a friend invited us to go when my son was just 5 months old and he loved it! Her son is a year ahead and both boys were very entertained. The park is very stroller friendly, but wear comfortable shoes, as exhibits are spread out (which we liked for walking!).  There is so much to see you can't even see it all in one visit.  Our only disappointment was that you don't always get a glimpse of the animals at every stop, as their areas are so big, they may be hiding where you can't see them. (But, i'm glad for the animals that they have so much space!)

"Great zoo for kids"

We come from Cookeville to go here every year. If we lived closer I'd buy a membership. The zoo is large and the habitats for the animals are nice. There is a huge playground, that is awesome! I'd bring my child just to play on it if we lived close enough to go all the time. They have a Merry go round and a place to feed birds as well.

"Great Playground with Zoo"

We love taking out kids there because our 4 year old and 2 year old LOVE playing in the playground beside seeing all the animals.  I think Zoo itself isn't that much "WOW" to us, but their playground is amazing!!  This huge jungle gym is quite a fun for kids but we have to follow kids since this is a big playground and the netting area where we have to climb is really tough especially for my 2 year old son.  I definitely will recommend to visit with kids!

"Day @ the Zoo"

The Nashville Zoo has some nice features ... they've taken care especially with some of the newer habitats to use naturalistic environments, and there are some fun features for the kids as well, such as being able to stick your head up inside some of the exhibits (in a glass enclosure, of course).  The zoo is very manageable to do in either a morning or an afternoon ... the implication of that, of course, is that they're aren't a ton of animals here.  And although the red pandas are spectacular, there's not a lot here that distinguishes it from any other zoo.  Really for the size Nashville is, you'd expect more.

HOWEVER, one really cool aspect is the giant outdoor playground.  I know it doesn't have anything to do with animals.  But it's an awesome place for kids to run and play on a nice day.  The playground area is large but enclosed, so parents can watch their little ones in peace by the entrance and not have to worry - but the area is also designed for parents to play right along with their kids if they're so inclined.  We have a zoo membership, and there are many times we go just to the playground and don't even go to any of the animal exhibits.

"a good way to spend the afternoon"

this zoo is normally not too busy so the kids have a chance to spend time and really see the animals.  There is also a nice play area and a carosel that they can ride.  Also the petting zoo is a great attraction for the kids and there is a hand sanitizer station right outside of it for kids to clean their hands off after playing with the animals.  Only real drawback is that there really are not any shows to see and a few more animals could help :)

"Great place for a day out!"

This is without a doubt the best place we have found in the area to take our kids whenever the weather is nice and they are in need of getting out of the house! There are plenty of different activities and shows, the huge play area (we use it as a reward for good behavior during the rest of the day, along with a carousel ride). The petting zoo is great too if your kids like getting close to the animals. Mine love the butterfly area where they can land right on you. Membership is well worth it, as the kids never get bored going back (mine are 2 and 5, both boys). Overall, a lot of fun at a reasonable price!

"Nashville ZOO!"

This is a great place to bring the Family.   Lot's to do and see.  Cost is low, but
the animals are great.  They also have the old farm house  from the 1900's that you may tour.   great food and the play area fro the kids is wild and fun.  Enjoy.

"Wonderful Zoo"

The Nashville Zoo has taken great care to make the animal's home so realistic.  You feel like you are right there with the animals.  As a member of another Zoo, I was given a discount for food and gift purchases.

I loved all the greenery and the landscaping too.
