Enjoy a bit of living history at the Naper Settlement Museum Village. This 12-acre site contains 25 historic homes, businesses, and public buildings, all peopled by costumed interpreters portraying life during the period from 1831 to 1900. Children may be able to get a hands-on feel for the ways things used to be done by writing with a quill pen, churning butter, or carrying buckets of water with a yoke. Special events include Civil War Days in May and Christmas Memories in December.
