"Beautiful Place to Camp"

On our inaugural camping trip in our Poptop EuroVan, we spent three nights at Myrtle Beach State Park. As it was February, the park was not very crowded and quiet (other than the occasional commercial flight landing at the nearby airport).  The facilities were all well-maintained - I could even use the campground wi-fi from our campsite!  The gorgeous beach was a very short walk from our site.  In addition, the park is close to shopping areas with groceries and anything else you might need.

"Good beach to visit"

I find Myrtle Beach to be overdone.  The beach along the strip is just very overcrowded and very commercial.  This state park allows a chance to enjoy the beach without the hulking high-rises looming in the background, but still enjoy a few amenities that make beach trips more enjoyable, like bathrooms and showers and snacks and umbrellas.  Also, they allow in and out access, so you can leave for lunch and come back later.

"great place to camp and swim!"

The campground area at this state park is really nice.  The public beach cannot be beaten.  Myrtle Beach is a really family friendly location and the water is not too rough, so younger kids could swim safely - they also have guard staff, which is really nice.

"Lovely"

This is a really beautiful place. We love to visit the beach or just hang out and play in the sand. Pack a lunch and have some quality time with your family. Go for a swim or just sunbathe. You're bound to find something fun to do in this gorgeous place!

"A Day at th Beach"

For a great day at the beach to relax and have fun, this is your destination. Look no further for fishing, swimming, picnicking, sand castle building, and catching some rays! Don't forget to bring the bucket and shovel! Collect shells and if you look closely, you can even collect shark's teeth. We still have ours!

"Away from the maddening crowds..."

The state park is a greata change of pace from the Myrtle Beach carnival and comercialism, although it is probably still very busy in the peak summer months.  We visited in late summer and found it wonderfully peaceful. We stayed in the campground, which was typical of state park campgrounds.  Economical, basic facilities, good flat sites, clean and well maintained.  The campgrounds are not beachfront and you do need to walk for a bit to reach the beach access.   This did not bother us because the trade off was the great price of sites compared to other accomodation options.

"great place to take the family"

Myrtle Beach Park is a great place to take the family. My oldest LOVES Ripley's and we all love the sites, places to eat, and of, course, the beach. We need to get back again very soon, before the weather gets cold...though, in South Carolina, that is not too often!

"A nice break from the beach"

This is a nice break from the beach, but still able to be outside,  without having to travel very far.  Typically not very crowded.  Check the website if possible before you go to be there or pre register for a day when they have programming for kids.

"Myrtle Beach State Park"

Located in the heart of the bustling Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach State Park is a quiet retreat from the craziness.  No skyscraper hotels and lazy rivers here -just sand and water. Programming and a nature center offer programs about dolphins and sea turtles that my daughter was fascinated with.  We don’t actually camp here (sand in the tent is not fun) but always make a visit when we’re at the beach!
