"Large and beautiful nature center"

We walked down the path with the wide open view of the Back Bay in front of us, not noticing the large nature center set creatively into the hillside to our left so as to give us a sweeping view of the nature of that area.  Once we saw it, my kids ran to the telescope to look for birds standing in the marshes.  We ate at the large rustic amphitheater just to the side with rocks and logs as seats and then we went into the center.

We started at the children's side on the right with tanks at toddler view with snakes, turtles and tarantulas to see.  Shedded snake skin could be touched and wooden puzzles of natural things kept my little ones happy.  We read a few nature books, played with some stuffed animals and then headed to the rest of the center.  A year ago, my older boys filled out the Jr. Ranger book by finding answers to the questions by visiting all the exhibits in the center.  This year, they studied the sea stars and fish in the small tank, watched a video on a great white heron eating a fish and explored the books for sale.

It's a great nature center to start a visit to the Back Bay.  So much can be discovered and enjoyed in this large area and a great nature center like this helps us understand it all.
