"very pretty view!"

We liked going here to see the falls... we didn't take the hike however...It is spectacular so stand at the base and feel the spray and look up at the falls sooo high!  It's nice cuz the base is just right there by the gift shop and parking lot when you first get there.  An easy stop if your driving thru in a hurry.

"Get out the wiggles!"

This is a great place to stop if you are on a road trip as a family. It is also great as a destination. The falls are beautiful and almost require that you get off the highway and take a walk up to see them. There is a short uphill walk that you can take to get to a bridge that is maybe 1/3 of the way up the falls. If you are feeling like you want an adventure you can continue up that trail to the top of the falls.

The area around Multnomah falls is lush and green at any time of year. Just watch out if you haven't been there before, the exit off the highway is a left exit which can throw people off sometimes.

It is more than worth the stop if you are passing by and also very worth it to drive out from the Portland area.

"Challenge your kids!"

Last spring we climbed up with 4 & 7 year-old. It's a medium trail. With encouragement the kids did it. The view is awesome from up there. Icecream there is delicious too. If you can't make all the way to the up, you can climb to the bridge only and snap nice pictures with the falls.

"Amazing"

This falls is absolutely breathtaking no matter what the season.  It has a short paved path to the bridge viewing area.  If you want to go to the top will need a carrier if you have a child that can't walk to good or far.  It is a steep uphill trip.

The place has a mid range priced sit down restaurant and gift shop.  It also has a snack bar.  This is a family favorite.  You go during the summer and will need to get the falls cone.  That makes the day complete.

This place can get packed on summer days is the downside.

"Beautiful!"

First of all - the area is incredibly beautiful!  I grew up stopping here with my family all the time.  There is an easy hike up to the bridge and much more fun - yet slightly more difficult - hike up to the top where the views will leave you speechless.  A great place for families!!  My kids love the ice cream as a treat when we stop!

"Beautiful "

This is an easy hike, appropriate for children, and absolutely beautiful. It's located on the Columbia River, and it is really breathtaking. It is always packed in the summer, so plan on fighting for a parking spot, or walking awhile from overflow parking. The water is ice cold, but kids don't seem to mind that- they still like to splash in the water.

"Bring a carrier"

I love Multnomah Falls, and I love the hike to the top, but with a toddler, we only get there if we have a carrier, since the hike past the bridge is steep and not paved. But our little one likes to stick his toes in the cold cold water at the top. Families with toddlers will probably only do the hike and maybe the cafe, but toddlers will probably become impatient while parents read all the informational pieces in the museum area.

"Beeeautiful"

This is an amazing sight! The drive is absolutely beautiful as well. This is perfect for a hot summer day because the waterfall with spray water on you the entire time you're hiking up. The only downside is that the climb up is quite steep and some little legs are likely to get tired. Once you get to the top though and see the view of the gorge and top of the waterfall, its so worth it.

"Multnomah Falls - One of a kind beauty"

Our family has visited Multnomah Falls many times through the years; I even recall visiting there on field trips when I was school-aged.  It is so very picturesque and the trails do not disappoint.  On hot days you can go for a dip in the creek beneath the train tracks and just enjoy the lovely vista.  It's always a trip well spent when we visit these falls.

"Amazing!"

This was amazing!! Our son was so excited to go "hiking", if we hadn't stopped him he would have gone all the way to the top... we had bad weather so we decided to go only halfway... a little slippery! We promised to go back at the beginning of the summer and do the hike all the way to the top.
This is seriously a must!! As we were driving around we found a couple of spots worth stopping by and taking pictures... nature is amazing!

"Beautiful!"

Everyone needs to experience Multnomal Falls at least one time in their life!  It's awesome to watch the water cascading down, and the hiking is nice if you feel motivated.  If you can safely get there when the falls are frozen, it's even more amazing!

"Great spot to stop and stretch legs!"

It’s hard to miss Multnomah Falls when traveling I-84, but you really need to stop and see it up close to appreciate its 620 foot height. And this pitstop doesn’t have to take a lot of time. From the parking lot, walk under the road through the pedestrian tunnel to the lodge and base of the falls (amazingly, even with a spectacular waterfall yards away, my kids were still more enticed by the tiny creek that runs the length of the parking lot…go figure!). You can view the falls right from here, but to get the kids some much needed exercise, I‘d suggest taking the fairly easy, short hiking trail up to Benson Bridge (midway up the falls). If you have even more time and energy, the trail to the top of the waterfall is worth the effort, but keep in mind that it’s steep (with switchbacks) and over a mile long. A historical center resides inside the lodge, by the gift shop (yes, of course there’s a gift shop! It’s a nice one, though!).

"Breathtaking!"

When driving down the Interstate the signs will quickly appear and whisk you away to a parking lot just off the freeway.  Watch your belongings because the parking lot is slightly removed from the waterfall.  This waterfall is just beautiful and can be a quick stop or will allow you to linger a while.  While on the road it may be tempting to pass on the way to other things, but stop and you won't be sorry! There is also a gift shop on site.
