"Gorgeous View of Austin"

This is my second time living in Austin and I had never been to Mount Bonnell until recently.  My husband surprised me with a little picnic on our anniversary at Mount Bonnell.  If you can make it up the steep stairs to get to the top...it is an AMAZING view of Austin and Lake Austin.  It's lovely and quiet.  I did not give it 5 stars because it is not easy to access...definitely not handicap friendly.  And would even be a challenge for my 2 little girls.  Grab a blanket, a picnic basket and your sweetheart.  It's a very romantic place.  OR just come by yourself with good book to hang out and relax.

"Gorgeous Austin Spot!"

Gorgeous view of Austin.  Not necessarily the best for young children in strollers but great place for a family hike to a beautiful view.  It's a great place for a nice romantic date.  We've packed a picnic and enjoyed the view while enjoying our food.  Definitely a great view of the Hill country so it'd be perfect for gorgeous pictures!  Great place for family photos!

"Very cool place"

Great for a romantic date.  Hopefully not too cold or not to hot.  Awesome for New Years or 4th of July.    Not a place with stroller access but a fun hike for kids 4 and up.  We took our youth group up there to take some cool pics.  Made great memories.

"Nice walk"

If you've lived or visited in an other city (or state) that isn't flat, then this place gets 1 star.  Sorry, but I was born and raised in Houston, which is even flatter, but I've lived in Washington, DC, the SF Bay area and visited countless nice viewpoints with my boo;  She just loves to make me take nice romantic walks and views at sunset.

If you're from Texas or Louisiana, then this place is friggen amazing!

My boo and I were visiting Austin one summer on a whirlwind tour of my home state.  It was super hot.  The mercury was easily pushing close to 100 degrees and the humidity was so thick, it felt like being in a sauna.  I searched on yelp for good views. Surely, TX hill country must have some good views, right?

Things may be bigger in TX, but sadly the views aren't.  We hiked up the 100 steps, and the heat and humidity makes it pretty unbearable, but once you get up to the top, we were left thinking, "that's it?"

We found a kid at the top drawing in a sketch book and reflecting.  He said, "it's amazing isn't it?"   We both looked at each other like thinking the same thing, "meh."   We didn't want to insult him, so we said "it's okay."    He informed us of his of his North Louisiana roots and how this was the highest viewpoint he has ever seen.

"More for adults"

Let me start off saying this is a very neat view of Austin. It just depends on the ages and interests of the family you are bringing. It is a very steep area- either reached by stairs or a fairly steep trail. This could prove challening with little ones and Grandma alike. Nice place for a picnic if you have older kids that like the outdoors that aren't so mischevious that you worry they will fall off a cliff! Nice photo op!

"Mount Bonnell "

Mount Bonnell has a fantastic view from the top. It's a very relaxing place to be especially when the weather is nice.We like to hike up on Bonnell and hang out and talk if we are going with friends. It is a very nice place to put your mind aside and relax.
