The play equipment was recently redone, and the park looks fabulous. The structures are unique and like none I've seen before. One of the slides is handicap accessible. There's a little whale at the center of a splash pad, there's rocks to climb, swings to swing, and lots of sand! There's a roped off swimming area for older kids, but my toddler was perfectly happy with the new equipment.
I kept hearing about a kid friendly/safe beach and this is it. We have been several times. The really aren’t any waves and the water is very still. Before when I would take the kids to the beach they were too scared of the “big waves” well…you won’t have that problem here. It is a good beach for small children and it really helped my little ones enjoy the beach experience. They jumped right into the water and have always had a good time…and it’s less stressful when you have younger kids…it’s one less worry…having still waters. Having said that…still waters also mean…kind of dirty waters. Because there is not that much water movement and a very little tide…it can sometimes seem a little dirty. Which is still a problem at many California beaches…even where there are lager tides. So I definitely think this is a good starter beach.
There is also a park, which the younger kids love and it’s also really close to other beaches, restaurants…Starbucks…need I say more;)
I can’t remember how much parking is…but it’s comparable to regular beach parking and they now have an automated machine that takes credit cards.
