"Great hike"

Bring your hiking shoes, bring a picnic.  Enjoy the rolling hills and amazing gardens any time of year.  My son enjoys getting to run free and also really likes the train display.  Afterwards if you have worked up an appetite for desert, head into nearby Chestnut Hill for an ice cream.

"Lots of fun for the whole family!"

We try to make it to visit the Morris Arboretum if we visit the Philly area during nice weather. The plants are beautiful, and I felt like the kids also learned a lot while having a good time. They especially loved watching the miniature railroad and the swans on the pond. We have gone with infants through older children as our children have grown, and I feel we have all had a great time with each visit.

"Fun with the Family"

The Morris Arboretum, the botanical garden of the University of Pennsylvania, is filledwith exotic plants and picturesque vistas. The arboretum fills ninety-two acres in Chestnut Hill, including Japanese gardens, rose gardens, the only Victorian fernery in the United States, and a charming pond complete with swans.
For kids, the real highlight of the Morris Arboretum is definitely the new Garden Railway, open from mid-June until early October. This delightful G-scale model railroad has six trains and three trolley lines, operating on a layout of thirty-four miniature buildings including Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, and many more. The buildings are replicated to scale and constructed out of acorns, moss, bark, twigs, leaves, seeds, and honeysuckle. The ten bridges and trestles are made of logs and railroad ties. There’s even a waterfall.
In season, the Garden Railway display is open daily 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday. It is wheelchair accessible. Nearby, the Cafe by Bruno’s is open daily 11:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., April 30 through October 31.
