Your family can easily spend a day, even a few days, at the phenomenal Moody Gardens. You can’t miss its central feature: a ten-story, 40,000-square-foot glass pyramid. The pyramid houses a tropical rain forest with waterfalls, cliffs, caverns, wetlands, and forests and is home to more than 2,000 species of exotic butterflies, birds, plants, fish, and bats. Lots of seasonal events including the famed Festival of Lights during the holiday season.
This place has everything. It's a great back-up plan if you take a trip to go to the beach and it rains. There are different pyramids to go to; a rainforest, aquarium, imax. And they are literally glass pyramids. There are a few other things, but we usually go to the aquarium and rainforest because we have a toddler. It can be pricey, but there are package deals. If it isn't raining there is also a waterpark with a great splash pad.
We love Moody Gardens! It is a little on the pricey side, but well-worth it in my opinion. When you drive up, you are immediately engaged, due to the pyramid-shaped buildings! Too neat! The aquariums are awesome, the garden part is beautiful, and of course the location is perfect. We always include a trip to the beach when we go to Moody Gardens.
My dad lived in Houston so we used to go to Galveston all the time. On one trip we decided to venture out to Moody Gardens and we had the best time. We really enjoyed the aquarium pyramid. I love seeing all the sea animals. We also liked the IMAX theater and see something every time we visit Moody Gardens. This is a great place to visit when you feel up for seeing sea animals, the rain forest pyramid and many other things.
Moody gardens are the best attractions at galveston. The aquarium is very large showing many huge sea animals. The rainforest pyramid is also very natural. It reminds me of a natural habitat. We were lucky enough to watch the festival of lights. It really landed us in another world. My kid was yelling in joy that day.Even one full day was not enough for us to enjoy the gardens. The discovery museum is also very much scientific disclosing interesting facts. The rides are also thrilling. We enjoyed a lot.
We really enjoyed the beautiful grounds after spending the day at the beach. It was very green and lush. Wish we would have gotten there a little earlier as we missed out on some of the rides that closed for the day. The 3D movie was a lot of fun as well as watching the sail boats nearby.
We were on vacation Thanksgiving week and were able to see the Festival of Lights. It was a great way to kick off the holiday season. The one mile loop was just right for our toddlers and 5 year old. There were tons of lights and it kept their interest the whole time. They also enjoyed watching people ice skating. This is the only thing we did at Moody Gardens.
We've been to the Aquarium and the Rainforest Pyramids and both were well worth it. We have also been to numerous outdoor events hosted at Moody Gardens such as classic car shows and the Festival of Lights during the holidays. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and it's so nice to see the ocean from there. We haven't been to the the IMAX but it looks very popular. Worth the trip!
We LOVED visiting Moody Gardens! Be sure to devote a whole day(or more) to make sure you can enjoy everything they have to offer. Our girls had a blast seeing all of the animals in the Aquarium pyramid and smelling the flowers and seeing the birds in the Rainforest pyramid. It was raining the day we went so we didn't go to the pool, but we will for sure go back and visit it too!
good for a rainy day in galveston, or if you are sunburned, plan to spend all day GREAT acquariums, some hands on tanks, penquins are fun to watch, there are 3 gift shops, imax, one of those 4D theaters, good for all ages, worth a season pass if you live nearby, Still in need of a bit of work after the hurricane a few years back, the rainforest pryamid was not open as ofour latest visit, but has been WONDERFUL, on previous trips, hope they getit back up to full speed, the hotel is also very nice, but a bit on the pricey side for a family
My immediate family and close relatives have been to Moody Gardens many times. I first went when I was in junior high, and have been back quite a few times since then. Here, the butterflies are enclosed within a large triangular building, where you can walk through and watch in awe. They have an i-max theater, and it being next to the beach, there's always plenty to do. A great family getaway!
Moody Gardens is great because of the variety of options available to families. There are multiple exhibits to choose from, including the aquarium, IMAX, rainforest, discovery pyramid (features traveling exhibits with a science theme), a 4D Theater and more. There is even a golf course. In the summer, Palm Beach is a great place to cool off! Family Membership passes are very reasonable, especially for palm beach, if you are local.
Good thing to do when you need break from the beach.
