Journey back 300 years! Wander along the Cedar Creek Trail beyond the Natural Bridge, the bridge of Monacan legend, to a one-of-a-kind replica Monacan Indian Village.
Includes admission to Natural Bridge, Cedar Creek Nature Trail and Monacan Village, and Drama of Creation Show (dusk)
The Monacon Indian Village is located inside the Natural Bridge complex. It is located about a five minute walk past the Natural Bridge.
There is a model village with wigwams, a trading post and many structures that would have been typical of a village in the area. Historically, there was not a village at this exact location. This village is modeled after a village that typically would have been found near the James River.
During our visit there were two people dressed as Monocan Indians answering questions. They seemed to have sufficient knowledge of the area's history.
The Monocan Indian Village is a nice addition to the Natural Bridge area. It's an interesting place to walk around for 10-15 minutes.
Disclosure: My family visited the Natural Bridge of Virginia using a complimentary pass from the Roanoke Area CVB. All opinions are my own.
