"Mitchel Park"

My 3 year old loves Mitchel Park!  It has a great play structure that offers activities for children young and old.  The park is clean and has benches around the structure for parents to sit.  I love the open grassy area with Oak Trees and room to roam.  There is a rather large homeless population that uses the lawn area but I've never had a problem.  My biggest complaint is that on occasion they will be smoking near the playground.  In this case, we up and leave.

"Fun park!"

I really like this park.  It has a great play gym for the kids to play on - which is both toddler & older kid friendly.  I really like that the park is surrounded by grass rather than a parking lot so your kids cannot run out in front of cars.  Great place to take a picnic to and make a fun afternoon out of it with the family!

"the homeless traffic is really high"

The playground is cute and the kids have fun on it.The open field where you could play frisbee or soccer or any other ball games are almost always too crowded with the homeless population to be able to play. The gazebo makes a great place for a picnic, but there are better parks in the area.

"Great little downtown park"

We walk to this park all the time and really enjoy it.  The facilities are great with two areas, one for older children and one for toddlers.  They recently (2008) added an activity walk that encourages exercise and also a pretty cool sculpture.

One word of caution, the bathroom facilities form one side of the play area and children usually end up running around it so if your child is one who wanders off it's easy for you to lose track of them if you don't notice them running behind it and then off to the bandstand.  Another thing, this park is bordered by 4 streets, 3 of which can be fairly busy depending on the time of day.

The central bandstand is pretty cool though and hosts many events throughout the year.

"Cute park"

Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo is a fun park to take the kids to.  They have two separate playground areas- one for the smaller kids and one for bigger kids.  The equipment is newer and really fun for the kids.  They also have a large grassy area for playing frisbee, tag, etc.

"A fun city park"

Mitchell Park is walking distance from downtown SLO. Parking can be a bit challenging since there are no parking lots and some of the streets are one-way.  That aside, we love going here.  There is a large amount of open lawn which can be used to play even the biggest outdoor games.  There are play structures themed like a small town, which the kids love to play in.  There is also a larger play structure that kids from ages 2 1/2 on up will enjoy.

"Fun, Fun, Fun!"

I love this park mainly because they have two playgrounds, one for kids just starting to walk and climb, and one for the older kids.  The baby one is the perfect size and is great for beginning sliders.  On the big playground, there is a climbing wall, a weird structured thing that looks vaguely like stacked cubes, slides, and more.  Their is a great grassy but the best feature of the park is that it's close to downtown SLO, so you can make a day of being in town and going to the park.  It's great.  Downside:  Parking can be tough.
