The Milwaukee Domes we had only ever driven by them, until I was more interested of what was actually in them. So one day we stopped and looked at the price and decided to do it. There are three Domes of which you get to go look through, with all kinds of plants from the dessert to everyday life and they have birds flying around. Also at night they have a light show the kids really enjoyed this. I reccommend this idea to anyone in the area, or vacation.
I have been to the domes on several occasions and have enjoyed the unique and amazing foliage. It is so neat to see the different plant life in each dome and to gain an understanding of other climates. That said, I would not really recommend this for children as there is not a lot to occupy them outside of the birds. :)
We visited the Mitchell Domes in 2010 and loved the experience we had. The domes offer an incredible diversity of plantlife. There are multiple domes that have many different types of plants from cacti, succulents, shrubs, showy flowers, fruits, nuts, spices and a multitude of orchids and bromeliads. Also enjoy the waterfall and birds flying around when your in the tropical dome. The price is very affordable $6.50 for adults and $5 for children. Also at night they offer a light show which is awesome to watch. I would recommend you visit the domes if your in the Milwaukee area.
The Milwaukee Domes, also known as the Mitchell Domes, is a series of 3 domes that serve as indoor greenhouses year round. They feature different biomes including desert and tropical. This is an excellent place for children of all ages to learn about plants and environment.
