The San Xavier mission church is really quite Beautiful! Parts where under construction when we went, but might be finished now. There is a giant hill that people climb and make promises to God. Inside its beautiful, there is a donation bin, also a small giftshop. We didn't get to see all of it because parts where under construction, but the parts we did see where quite Beautiful!
This mission is beautifully restored and offers up a lot of history and facts about Southern Arizona. However, there are few if any kid friendly points to it. Kids of just about any age will most likely become bored easily. This is definitely a sight seeing trip for when the kids are elsewhere.
This mission is located about 9 miles from downtown Tucson. It is a beautiful church to be appreciated. The architecture is magnificent. Admission is FREE and the mission's grounds include hills that are fun for kids to climb and provide a stunning view of the surrounding cities and mountains. The mission is fully operating and you can attend mass there.
