"Fun For All Ages"

The Minnesota Zoo really does have something for everyone to enjoy!  They have a wide variety of animals and exhibits to visit.  They even have a splash pad play area/playground in the zoo for really hot days!

If you plan to "do" the" whole zoo, bring a stroller for youngsters.  There is a TON of walking.

The MN zoo even has a farm exhibit as well!  You can take a "tractor" ride down to the farm and visit a barn and see a cow being milked and more.

You can even visit the zoo in the Winter.  There is a very large exhibit and plenty to see on a winter day visit even if you plan to stay indoors the whole time.

"Minnesota Zoo Fun!"

The MN Zoo (not to be confused with Como Park) is a really large facility with so many animals!

The Zoo is separated into regions that are represented by the animals that inhabit them. For example, you can visit the Rainforest Trail and the Northern Trail (to see tapirs or moose, respectively.) I'm also a self-proclaimed bird nerd and the variety of species that make this zoo their home is vast.

It's nice that there is an indoor and outdoor portion to the zoo, so you can truly enjoy it all year long. When in the indoor portion, it's almost like being on vacation because of all of the chirps and calls of the birds and animals and the warm temperature! Anyone from the northern climes can appreciate a reprieve from wintery weather!

They have great kids programs and reasonable fees.  Our whole family enjoyed it. You could use a membership as a destination to go walking with a stroller if you have younger children so that the winter doesn't beat your efforts to get out and have fun! This place is totally accessible and has very safe walkways. There are many docents walking about, so if you have a question, there is likely someone nearby to help out!

The food on-site can be a little spendy but you could always pack snacks or a picnic as long as you promise not to feed the animals! Awesome family destination!

"Don't Miss the Grizzly Exhibit"

We LOVE the Minnesota Zoo.  We had a family membership to it during one of the years that we lived there.  They have a newer grizzly bear exhibit that is so fun!  They also have a newer spray park area, so bring your swimsuits and let the kids run around and get wet if you're there on a hot day.  I would recommend bringing dry clothes for when they're done because they will be SOAKED!  There's also a fun sand play area.  Tons of great exhibits at this zoo - and the dolphin show is worth checking out too!

"Great choice"

We love the Minnesota Zoo. In fact, I have loved it since  I was a child. My only complaint is that the main buildings need remodeling- I don't think if has changed since the school trips of my youth. It can be a challenge for young children because the exhibits are large and natural in appearance. Great for the animals, not so great for little peepers. Good variety of animals, and we love the new MN area.

"Fun..!!"

I have got to his zoo lots of times and really love it..although in the summer we went in June one time the animals were so hot and you were not able to find them at all it was care. On the bright side of things, the dolphin show is amazing with the sea creatures you are able to touch! I loved this and so do my entire family. For those of you where its hard to get around, no worries they have a rail that you can ride where you are able to see the entire zoo and no walking..it is extra $$ but worth it. I have done both and you see different views using the rail and walking. It is clean and people are friendly.

"Great zoo!"

I've been to a lot of zoos in my life and this one is on the top. Taking a trek through the jungle area with birds all around and open is really neat. They have a lot on neat things down low for little kids too. Caves, aquariums, animal facts, ect. Great walking trail with a huge park to play before you go visit the farm. There's a brand new grizzly bear exhibit that is so cool! This is a must visit when coming to the Twin Cities.

"A great zoo"

The Minnesota Zoo is everything you would want in a zoo.  Many wonderful animal exhibits, some great activities for kids, and wonderful shows for families.  I would just recommend if you go, go for a full day.  It is a big zoo with lots to see.  We didn't plan so well when we took our two year old and the day got a little long for her.  So plan accordingly when you go, all of the exhibits are definitely worth seeing. :)

"Warm up the Winter"

We took my son here when he was 10 months old. Everything was so exciting for him. Much of the zoo is inside a huge dome structure that is set up like a jungle or rain forest. Guest can wander the path and see all manner of animals and birds jumping about. In addition to the jungle area there is a small aquarium with dolphins (no dolphin show), sharks, and seahorses. There is also a pseudo sheltered walkabout with some of the northern animals like timber wolves and lynxes. It is a nice way to pass a chilly Minnesota day and give young toddlers an engaging space to run around in.

"Minnesota Zoo: Farm exhibit"

The Minnesota Zoo is amazing! There are many great exhibits! In the summer we love to go out to The Farm section. You can take a horse pulled trailer ride out to the farm. Once you are there they have a great petting zoo, cows and chicken exhibit. The most amazing part for our family is when we watched the cow milking demonstration!

"BIG zoo"

This was a really big zoo.  It was nice, but not for the young kids that we were bringing.  No one could see the animals because they had such a large space.  Which is good for the animals, but frustrating for little kids.  It was also pretty expensive.

"Fabulous, but oh so pricey!"

The zoo itself is amazing!  Parking is quick and easy to find, lines are short even during the busiest of times, animal displays are fun and interactive, everything is very clean.  The barnyard area is out of this world!  It's like traveling to the cutest, old fashioned farm you could ever imagine.  The kids can even get into the fenced in area with the goats and feed them...one of our favorite experiences ever with our children.  I just can't get over the ticket cost!  It's horribly expensive for a family...especially since they charge for young children.  Go....but make it a once in awhile treat.

"Family Fun"

We find the zoo an easy family event.  With kids ranging in ages from 7 to 14, everyone has something to do but all activities work for everyone.  If you will be there over lunch hour, I would recommend packing a lunch, there are many great picnic areas and for the price, the food is not that great at the zoo.

"A Summer Must"

We love going to the MN zoo.  A lot of animals to see and watch.  Our favorite time to go is in the spring to see the baby farmyard animals.  Bring your stroller or rent on there, because it's a haul, but worth it.  There is also an awesome playground on your way out to the Farm. Other fav of ours is watching the Gibbon in the Tropics and seeing the fish from underground.

"Great Animals, Higher Price"

The animals at the MN Zoo are great!  I really like that they all seem to have a great amount of space to live in, it seems like they care about their animals.  Prepare to do a lot of walking though!
Admission is too high in my opinion, but you can go during their off season for cheaper prices. We only go once a year, although if you are planning to go often it may be better to get a season pass!

"Lots of natural habitat exhibits"

The zoo has a wide variety of animals, but not some of  your typical animals such as elephants, giraffes and zebras.  Most of the exhibits are very well done, very large and resembling natural habitats of the animals.  Due to the large exhibits it is sometimes a challenge to find some of the animals, but if you are patient you can usually see them.  Also, there is a lot of walking and in some ways the layout does not lend itself to an organized touring plan.  There is a water play area, playground and family farm area with climbing tubes.  These three areas tend to be very busy in the summer and on weekends.  Also, you can not see the children the entire time they are in the climbing area so that can be a bit concerning.

"Too much walking for not enough excitement"

I think it's wonderful that the Minnesota Zoo provides such large habitats for the animals in this zoo, but it often makes viewing them challenging. And they have very obscure animals—no giraffes, elephants, zebras—the typical zoo animals that the little ones like to see. The dolphin show is really great and so is the farm exhibit.
The admission cost is kind of pricey.

"Good place to visit year-round"

(This zoo is actually in Apple Valley, but the Trekaroo system wouldn't accept that as a city.)
Although this zoo's the most fun in the summer when the Family Farm exhibit is open, there's enough to do indoors that a winter visit is nice as well.  The aquarium area is nice and the indoor trails and kids' workshop areas offer fun for families.  Outdoors, there's a lot of walking to be done, so bring your walking shoes and a stroller for little ones who aren't good walkers yet.
