Great for all ages! There is a playground in the family farm for children to climb on, etc. A good break, esp. if you're enjoying a picnic like we did. Carousel and Train ride for a little extra.
This has been a long tradition of our family to visit the Milwaukee Zoo.
Very nice spread out zoo. So you don't feel like all the animals are pilled on top of each other.
Thing to note upon entering is the entrance and parking are paid at your car as you pull in. So be prepared when stopped at the "toll booth".
Tip, they do accept partner memberships from various zoos across the country, so if your a member of your local zoo, it's likely that admission is covered with that same membership.
Upon entering stear to the right for the Ape exhibit. A very nice spacous attraction. And make sure you make your way outside to see the monkey and ape out back a very natural and spaceous exhibit.
One done there you might have to back track to catch a couple exhibits the exit take you past.
But further up is the Reptile exhibit and aquatic exhibits.
Also two our our favorites.
Beyond that the zoo opens up to a walk past the woods and to the more tradional exhibits of bears, Elk, and such.
The Lion exhibit is a nice touch as well.
For kids the zoo offers several cool things.
First the train around the zoo is a must do.
But so is the skyway ride.
(though not always open)
On the far side check out the Camel rides and petting zoo.
Not often kids get a chance to ride a Camel.
Of course the carousel is a must do as well
All of which as extra costs, to be prepared for additional costs
for the day.
By the end of the day, you'll be surprised how big the zoo feels and how much more space they have to expand for more.
My family and I truely love this place. We tried to go there for just an afternoon once and that did not work very well. This is an amazing and large facility that deserves your full attention for an entire day. It had several bathroom locations, plenty of food stands, and lots of gift shops with items that are fairly reasonable for the kids. If anyone was is planning a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo, check and see if your bank or local parks and rec deptartment have discounted tickets available. Enjoy!
I have NEVER been to such an active zoo. The day we went happened to be the free-to-the-public day and the animals were amazing! We especially loved the jaguar, brown bears wrestling each other in the water, and the monkeys. There were wonderful activities for the children throughout the zoo as well. Like most places, the food was super expensive. Next time, we would like to ride the train. If you go on the free day, go in the morning because it is less crowded. And you can park a couple of streets north for free. We would like to get the family pass next year so we can go anytime!
My family Loves going to the zoo. The milwaukee zoo is very large. The Kids enjoy the fish and the reptiles the most. They also have a wide variety of things. Make sure you bring something to snack on the prices inside for food is very expensive also you have to pay to park and for your tickets to get in, but if you have child 2 an under they get in for free which is a good thing. I know my family and I will keep coming here. They also have camel rides in the summertime which is fun also a little pricey. I would defiantely reccomend this zoo to friends and family.
My family visited the Milwaukee zoo in summer of 2010 and we all enjoyed our day at the zoo. The price is a little high for the tickets if you buy them at the gate but if you buy them from a credit union like we did it is much more affordable. The zoo is a day long adventure. The zoo offers a wide variety of animals, activities, food and attractions. The kids favorite activity was the petting zoo. But they enjoyed seeing a wide variety of animals such as the Leopard Shark, King Penguin, Bactrian Camel, African Elephant, Alligators, bats, the red panda and many more animals. We are going to make this a family event for years to come since our trip to the zoo was so educational and exciting for every one in the family. I would recommend the Milwaukee zoo to anyone interested in an excellent zoo experience.
We have a Zoo Pass and love going to the zoo. The zoo is very big so we never get through it all in one trip. If you live in the Milwaukee area and have young kids it iw worth it to get the Zoo Pass. Daily Passes and Parking are more expensive so if you are going to go more than once in a year the Zoo Pass is the way to go. We love being able to go for short trips and not feeling we have to stay if the kids are tired since we spent so much. A tip is to try it in winter. We have taken the kids there during the winter and since so many things have inside options we saw lots of animals and there was no crowds.
This is a great zoo with lots of different animals to see. A great day trip for kids of all ages. There are also indoor exhibits in case of a rainy day. Seasonal exhibits, too. Kids area with petting zoo and pony rides. There is a great cafe with reasonable prices and pretty good food, too. Cute gift shop. Stroller rentals available.
This zoo is very beautiful and very kid friendly. They also always have a special feature going on for the kids. Like one year it was dinosaurs. The animals are easy to see for the little ones. The restrooms are very easy to get to in time for little "emergancy's". The gift stores offer cute suvineers that are not oo expensive. Great zoo for all ages.
The Milwaukee Zoo is one of the best in the nation. They have a large selection of animals to be seen both indoors and outdoors, and in warm and cold months. They have a large variety of merchandise in their gift shop that would help any child find a souvenir of their liking to remember their trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo.
We have been to a lot of zoos around the country, and this is just a very average zoo. You have to pay for parking, and I don't like that, in addition to the fee to go to the zoo. The animals are just your normal, average zoo animals. Nothing special, average family zoo adventure.
Milwaukee County zoo is simply the best in Wisconsin! Such a large variety of animals and activities for kids. We love spending hours at the zoo. We have had a zoo pass for almost 4 years now, and I see us being members for YEARS to come! The food here is actually really good, it's not cheap but it's almost worth the price paid.
The Milwaukee Zoo is a nice zoo to visit. The one thing I would have to point out is that although it is nice, it is not memorable. There is not anything that truly seems different and exciting from other zoos. It is also in a fairly busy part of Milwaukee so travel in or out at the wrong time can be a bit frustrating. It is nice that the animals are sectioned into various areas based on origins, but even that is becoming the norm. As a positive note there are a lot of nice animals to view. I personally loved the polar bear exhibit.
We love the Milwaukee Zoo! Very reasonable for pricing and they still have the cool rent able animal strollers as they did when I was a child! The zoo is well maintained and always clean. Recently they have added a lot of interactive learning centers for children! From the parking to the entrance to the animal cages this is hands down the best zoo to visit with fun for all ages!
My fiance, 2 year old son went twice one when he was two and back when he was around 11 months old. Both times were great for him, He loved how big it was, and all the exhibits from the reptile room, bird room, and the outdoor ones too. They had polar bears, penguins which you rarely see at the zoos in our area. We had a great time, and the cost wasn't too bad and during the holidays they have Boo at the Zoo during Halloween, mothers day us moms get in free and fathers day and many more. Sometimes bands will come in and play as well! Great experience fun for all ages!
While this zoo has lots of animals, it is rather pricey in my opinion. The children will enjoy it, but it is a lot of walking for young children. I would take my family again, if I could find a good deal. Other than the price, the zoo is great as long as you are prepared with a good stroller, great walking shoes, and be prepared for some crowds, depending on when you go.
I take my daughter here all the time during the summer and fall...The park is very clean and all the animals are pretty clean as well.. Many of the animals interact with guest, so that is always entertaining. Another good thing about the zoo is carry-ins are allowed..so if your trying to save on maney this would be a GOOD idea! Pack a lunch and have fun with all the different animals.
Great zoo with interesting exhibits. My 4 year old enjoyed it. When we just moved to Milwaukee, all the neighborhood parents recommended the zoo and had season passes to it. Some even go during the Fall and Spring. They just bundle up and go from building to building. Food is decently priced but drinks are very expensive for some reason.
Went to the zoo. It was nicely laid out and mostly a flat walk. There were too many animals that were too far to see (unless you brought binoculars) and some were hidden by features. I also felt that they nickel and dimed us for admission. Why not just charge 1 price up front and have package deals. We would go back if I were in Milwaukee. It was very clean and had a great selection of animals.
Milwaukee County Zoo is a great place to take kids. The volunteers are knowlegable and friendly. The animals are active and healthy. Its a very clean zoo. We loved the petting zoo and the interactive programs. We brought our lunches and drinks and had a great day. So many things to see and do. We didnt get to the see the entire park in one day so we will plan on going again.
The Milwaukee Zoo is a great outing for the family. Beautiful zoo with many animals to see. Be prepared for a lot of walking. Food is tasty as well.
They have a train ride and carousel ride that will be a big hit for the kids as well! We have always had a lot of fun at this zoo and visit at least once a year.
