"Fun with the Family"

Opened in 1999, Mass MoCA is a contemporary international cultural center carved out of a former textile mill; it focuses on visual, media, and performing arts. A special kidspace has been created as a resource for schools and the public. Kidspace serves two functions: as a gallery for contemporary artists and as an incubator for children to create their own artwork. Other facilities include a blackbox theater, an outdoor movie screen, galleries, and exhibition space. Call for public hours, programs, and family activity schedule. Try the lobby cafe, Lickety Split, for a snack.

"Funky!"

Located in an old industrial complex, the architecture itself is worth the visit.  The exhibits are mainly temporary and as its name suggests, the art is contemporary.  Installation art and video media are more common than not.  Please note that depending on the exhibits, which are constantly changing, there might be subject matter objectionable to some parents.
