At the Hatfield Marine Sceince Center you will find exhibits featuring living marine animals, and interactive games and puzzles.
We enjoyed this! It is free, however, they do ask for a donation.
it is a small museum, but perfect to spend an hour or two with kids. We liked seeing the octopus, as well as the touching some the marine life they had on display in the "touch" area. Perfect day trip.
We stop by the Hatfield Center every time we go to the beach. My 3 year old and 1 year old love to put there hands in the water and explore the creatures. They are fascinated by the big water wheel as well as the huge octopus they have. We have even been there during the octopus feeding time, and seen them feed him whole crabs. So cool! The really nice part is that it is free, and they only ask (encourage) donations. The only downside is that it is not very big, so don't plan to spend all day there.
The Hatfield Marine Science Center is a wonderful museum with several hands-on exhibits for kids. The best part about the museum is that it is such an inexpensive family friendly actiity. Entrance is free, though a donation is encouraged (and well worth it!).
We take our kids to this museum every time we are on the Oregon coast. They love the octopus tank where they even witnessed the octopus feeding live and up close. Kids will also love all of the tide pool creatures that can be gently touched. My 3 year old especially loved just staring at all of the aquariums displayed throughout the museum.
In all, this museum is a wonderful and inexpensive place for families to visit. This museum provides great famiy fun and learning. Therefore, I would highly suggest offering a donation during your visit in order to maintain this treasure for all families to enjoy in the future.
