"Great way to travel"

The budding train enthusiast in your family will absolutely love this ride to the top of Pikes Peak! From hearing the horn and train whistle to the amazing views, this is by far the best way to travel to the top (especially for those who are prone to motion sickness). At the top of the mountain, they have several observation areas, a cafe to taste some awesome doughnuts or other tasty treats, and a gift shop. Make sure to bring cash for a fast check-out in the cafe as the line can get long on busy days. The ride can be a little long for busy kiddos, so make sure to bring some small toys/snacks for the ride.

"Fun!"

The Cog Railroad is a great touristy thing to do in the area. It is a very scenic trip, and you get to learn a lot of information about Pikes Peak and the surrounding area. The top of it is chilly! There is a cute little store up top with great food and gifts. Kids will love this! It's just very expensive. Good idea to make reservations beforehand in the summer.

"wonderful"

This is a great family activity.  It is fun to go up and down the cog railway, it just can feel like a long trip.  The cog is rather noisy and makes a lot of clickety clackety noises, but is safe (so they told me).  There is an annual Santa train that goes part way up and that is a super fun family activity!!

"Better than driving!"

The Cog Railway is the best way to get to the top of Pikes Peak!  It is a little expensive though- about $33 for adults and $18 for kids 3 and up.  We took our 6 month old and our 3 year old and they did great.  We made sure to bundle up though, because it is cold at the top!

"On Top of the World"

An amazing way to get a bird's eye view.  The Cog Railway takes just over an hour to acend to the top of Pike's Peak.  Along the way the conductor narrates facts, history, and some corny jokes good for a few giggles.  At the top of the peak, there is an awe inspiring view of 5 states.  It's gorgeous but freezing cold.  We went in July and the temperature at the top was 42 degrees Fahrenheit with a Wind Chill Factor of 36 degrees with very strong winds.  There was snow on the ground.  If you go, make sure to wear long pants and bring a coat.  There is a gift shop and cafe at the top.  You are given about 30 minutes to look around, take pictures, and shop.  Then another hour back down to the bottom.  Round trip is about 3 hours long.  We did not take our young children and were very glad we did not.  I don't think they would have sat well for the long ride and would not have liked the cold and strong winds at the summit.

"Classic Colorado Springs"

This is the best way to see Pike's Peak!!  Travel to the top of the 14,000+ ft Pike's Peak and see lots of wildlife and nature!  Also, especially neat is the new Santa Train! A very limited seating trip, your children get cookies, cocoa and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  There are also coupons available on the website to help a little with the cost of tickets.  I remember my first trip up the cog railway at seven years old, and it is a memory I will always treasure!
