There are no facilities at this beach.
There are some nice tide pools to explore here, but the undertow can be fierce, so swim with caution. Mahaulepu is actually three separate beaches: Kawailoa Bay, Ha`ula Beach, and Gillin’s Beach. This area is important to Kauai’s history. In 1796 Kamehameha the Great sent 10,000 warriors in outrigger canoes from Oahu, across the channel, intending to land at Mahaulepu. Severe storms sank many of the canoes. The soldiers who did complete the journey were killed by King Kaumualii’s warriors as soon as they landed here.
