A mounted skeleton of a 30-foot gray whale is exhibited next to the visitor center at the park’s entrance.
I spent summer after summer camping here and even camped for a week with a friend for our senior trip. Excellent campgroud with decent bathrooms near by with showers ($). The park for day use is awesome too!! A fantastic boardwalk takes you out to a point where rocks are the sunbathing area to tons of sea lions and fantastic tide pools!! Also a great place to watch the sunset. The beach is nice...we walk down the old haul road where it is less crowded. The haul road goes for miles and miles. There is also a picnic area around a little lake that also has a great little trail around it. There is also a place down the road for horse back rides on the beach. I love this place so much!! My kids love it almost as much as I do!!!!!!!!
A 1,598-acre park, 8 miles of beach and dunes, with a popular beach play area and tidepools at Pudding Creek, at the southern end of the park. Two freshwater lakes are stocked with trout. Horseback-riding, mountain-biking, and hiking trails are found throughout bluffs, headlands, dunes, forests, and wetlands. The headlands at Laguna Point are a prime spot for whale watching, and a permanent population of harbor seals reside here. The boardwalk affords wheelchair and stroller access, from the southwest corner of the parking lot. There are 140 developed campsites and RV sites for up to 35-foot vehicles, plus fire rings and toilets. Stretching the entire 8-milelength of the park, the paved Haul Road, a former logging road, is a fabulous jogging, biking, and walking route with ocean views, crossing beautiful sand dunes.
