Martin's BonusCard – $5.00 off each adult ticket (up to 6)
Giant BonusCard – one 50% reduction off a second regular adult ticket
Participating companies and military bases (through their Human Relations Department) – $5.00 off adult tickets

* Each of the above is not applicable with any any other discount. Discounts are only valid when purchasing tickets on-site.

There is a cafe beside the cavern.  The food was fair.  Nothing fancy.  After the tour went got some ice-cream which was pricey.

We stood in line for about 10 mins. before we were assigned a tour guide. It's best  to use the restroom before you go in  since the tour is an hour in a half long.  The temperature is an constant 53 degrees and also a little wet in certain places. I love the way children was asking questions and enjoying the tour.

There are other museums around to go and see which you will be able to use  your already paid ticket to get into.  There's a maze for children which you would have to pay addition to enjoy.

This is a must see for people of all ages. I am going to make another trip.

"Very impressive but pricey"

I have been to Luray Caverns several times in my life, and they are always very impressive, but the price continues to creep up. $23 per adult is a little steep, so use your Giant Bonuscard if you have one to save $11.50 on one adult admission.

We were just there at the end of July 2011, and they used a guided tour. The headsets were only given to those who would rather hear the tour in a different language.

You walk about 1.25 miles while down there, but it is not too difficult. Most of the time you are on a flat, brick pathway. There is lots to see, and my 5-year old was never bored.

Your admission ticket includes entry to the antique car museum, which is pretty cool, and another museum that focuses on early farm life (just so-so, no interactive exhibits). At the farm museum you can mine for gems and fossils at $7 per bag. It looks like they are building another section that is not ready yet.

There is also a giant hedge maze, but we didn't go into that.

I definitely recommend Luray Caverns for a good family activity. Bring a light sweater or jacket if you get cold easily because it is a constant 52 degrees down there.

"New self guided tours! Perfect for the whole family."

My husband and I visited here once years ago  prior to having kids.  We really thought the kids would find the caverns an interesting destination and we were not wrong.  Lurray caverns are the largest and most decorated around and provide for a wonderful show of nature.   The formations are truly breathtaking.

What I loved the most?  They stopped the guided tours.  They are now audio tours.  Everyone, including the kids, gets their own headset and you can walk through the caverns at your own pace.  At marked stops you can punch in a number on your audio set and it tells you about the cavern.  There is an adult and kid version of this audio tour and the kids version is put together like a scavenger hunt.  This turned out to be fantastic.  My kids were excited to turn the next corner and see if they found something on their list.  (my 10 1/2 y.o. decided on the adult version of the tour)   There are still "rangers" located throughout the caverns so if you have any questions or problems you still have a live person to speak with.

There are picnic tables outside on the far end of the parking lot if you'd like to pack a lunch.  There is also a snack shop and cafe on property.

Included in the admission fee is admission to 2 museums located on the property, the Car and Carriage Caravan and the Luray Valley Museum and Gardens.  There is also a Garden Maze for an additional fee.

All three of my children (age 10, 9, 7) as well as my husband and I had a great day here.

"Most impressive caverns on the East Coast"

These caverns are absolutely phenomenal. My husband is a bit of a cave enthusiast, having worked at a caverns when he was younger. He convinced me to stop by Luray and pay what I thought was a pretty pricey admission rate to enter.  Well, I've never been so glad to be wrong. These caverns were phenomenal, absolutely worth every penny.  I've never seen such amazing formations. The tour was outstanding.  All of us were in awe.  There are various museums and exhibits outside the caverns which can turn your visit into a day trip, but really it's the caverns that make the day.

"Great experience for the whole family"

Beautiful caverns and an amazing experience!  A nice hike, not difficult for anyone in our party (ages 5-69). Would be difficult for someone with trouble walking.  It's nice and cool down there, a neat experience on a hot summer day. The antique car museum is really enjoyable as well.

"A great cave"

I really enjoyed the wedding room with the pipe organ. My family likes to visit caves because they are cold and you see something new each time you go. It isn't really expensive and has many interesting sites. Fun for the whole family and much to learn.

"Always fun"

Love the caverns.  Best for smaller children during off season when there are less crowds and wait is shorter.  The cavern tour can be too much for the preschool ages.  It's chilly in the caverns no matter what month so dress appropriately.  Food court is ok.

"A Family Staple in Luray, VA"

Most of us in this area have been to the caverns and though there are many to choose from, Luray Caverns and Maze are the best of the best around here.  With a professional and well- educated staff, an entertaining guided tour and a ton of education piled on top, this is a definite must if visiting Luray.  The kids were in awe the entire time.  Be careful, if you fall behind the lights will turn off and you might find yourself in the dark.  Though both of us adults had been there before, it was still fun at our age, especially seeing the kids faces light up along the tour (the bacon and eggs made them laugh). If you're really lucky, you might even get to hear the great stalactite organ play a tune.  A good time can also be had in the adjacent maze for a small fee.  We let the kids lead, and had a great time getting lost.

"Amazing Cavern"

One of the best! If your child is scared of the dark, beware they turn off the lights at some points. Beautiful formations, just a true natural delight. I wouldn't miss seeing this if you are going to be in the area. You may want to see how busy it's going to be when you are there or what tour options are available if you have very small children. Older children will ooh and ahh!!

"Luray Caverns"

Went to Luray Caverns in the fall.  This is probably a popular time to go as was getting to peak season in the Shenandoah Valley.  It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was crowded.  Minimum wait to enter cavern.  They had a lot of tour guides and seemed equipped to handle large crowds.  The caverns were beautiful  and the tour was educational.  We had a great tour guide.  The tour did tend to get a bit long which led to restless children (age 4 and 6).   It might go a bit faster off season when you did not have to wait for the group in front of you to finish up before you could progess in the cave.

"Fun with the Family"

Luray Caverns is the largest cavern in Virginia and the most popular in the East. Remember to bring along a sweater; no matter how hot the surface temperature, the underground rooms are cool. The subterranean chambers range from 30 to 140 feet high and feature thousands of colored formations. Even the most blasé of teens will turn off the headphones to listen to chords played on the Great Stalacpipe Organ, billed as the world’s largest natural musical instrument. The tunes resonate throughout the chamber when plungers tap the stalactites.
One-hour cavern tours begin every twenty minutes, and the admission fee also includes a self-guided tour of the on-premises Car and Carriage Caravan of Luray Caverns. More than 140 vehicles include such finds as an 1892 Mercedes Benz, a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, and other vehicles and costumes dating back to 1725. There’s also a one-acre Garden Maze in which to get lost (and found) among 8-foot-high trees enveloped in mist. Across from the caverns is the Luray Singing Tower, a 117-foot-high carillon that provides music throughout the spring, summer, and fall. There are also three shops with enough trinkets to please the kids and a 250-seat food court.

"Be a spelunker for a day!"

An unbelievable place.  You will feel like you have stepped onto another planet!  This trip is best for the older children who can appreciate the amazing landscape.  They will love to pretend to be spelunkers on a trip!  The pipe organ is so neat to see and listen to.  The walk is paved so you can bring a stroller but if you child is still small enough to carry, a front carrier or sling will make it easier on you.

"Ready & Explore"

This is a great place to take your kids to learn all about rock formations.  Best for 8 year old and older.  Definitely not for kids that are scared of the dark.  There's limited lighting in the caverns so as not to disturb the rock formations.  Be sure to visit if you're looking for something to do in Virginia.
