This was a nice beach to stop at with the buckets and shovels for some digging time. It was not crowded, in fact my daughter called it her beach because we couldn't see anyone else for the longest time. The lack of services can be a little problematic, but just stop at the potties ahead of time, bring a bottle of water and snack and this is a fun beach for just beach time.
For those who rank Hanalei Bay as Hawaii’s all-time most beautiful spot, Lumahai Beach is likely a close second. It’s just north of Hanalei Bay and offers an inviting stretch of soft white sand framed by the glorious, majestic Na Pali Cliffs. This is where Mitzi Gaynor “washed that man right out of her hair” in the musical South Pacific. NOTE: The ocean currents can be quite fierce in winter, so be cautious when entering the water. But even if the weather is rough, by all means stop here, if only to appreciate one of the most majestically beautiful treasures of Kauai.
