"The MOUNTAIN OF YOUTH "

The MOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is a three-story climbing apparatus for kids of ALL ages. Harnessed in, you can experience the thrill of tightrope walking and climbing, and see LuLu’S from a totally different perspective!

Requirements:
*You must be 48 inches or taller to climb on your own. Children between 44 and 47 inches may experience the course with an adult.
*Cost is $12 per person (kids between 44 and 47 inches climb free with a paying adult).

"Fun way to spend the afternoon"

We went to LuLu's over Mother's Day weekend. We got there about ten minutes after opening and though it was already crowded, we were seated right away. The restaurant is covered but is completely open so it can get warm. If you have an allergy, be sure to let your waiter/waitress know ahead of time. They have a separate menu that made it easy to see what met our allergy needs and we had a separate person take the allergy order to ensure that it was done correctly.

While you are waiting to be seated or after you eat, there is a lot to explore. There is a big sand hill (with water...prepare for a mess) with sand toys for the kids to play. There is the Mountain of Youth, a ropes course that you can do for $12 a person. There is also a bar, a volleyball court, snow cone booth, a gift shop and more.

The food was good but I was disappointed that the gluten free menu didn't include a lettuce wrapped burger, it came with a gluten free bun (which is not in my family member's diet). I ordered fish tacos that were very good but didn't compare with my favorites.

Things to note: If your kids love to color kid's menu, bring something for them to do because we did not get one. Try to arrive as soon as they open for lunch or early for dinner so that you do not have a long wait. I have been told that waits can sometimes last as long as 1-2 hours.

"a good time"

A fun place to take your family for lunch and dinner.  Kick off your shoes and enjoy the great food.  Or you can take in a game of beach volleyball.  There is also a play area for the kids.  They have live bands on certain nights and gets everyone in a great mood!

"Not worth it"

Everyone had told us how wonderful and kid-friendly LuLu's was so we decide dto give it a try.  There was an hour and a half wait.  They have a large sand are with volleyball nets and buckets and shovels.  Older kids were playing volleyball and wouldn't let our kids play so they decided to dig in the sand.  Needless to say, they were COVERED in sand by the time we finally got a table.  Most of the sand came from other kids throwing it over their shoulders without looking.  Once seated, it took another 20 minutes b/4 a waitress came over.  B/4 we received our meal, another waitress dropped her tray which had about 15 drinks on it.  Liquid and glass went all over those of us on that side of the table.  The food was okay.  Nothing special.  We decided to order dessert, which was not right!  Needless to say, we did not have a good experience.

"Kid Friendly, but cuisine was a let down"

Kid friendly, with a large play area in the middle of the restaurant (it's mostly an open air/outdoor dining experience).  Live music, a couple of bars, but the menu and food was disappointing.  Mostly fried stuff; good, but there are other venues in town with better fried seafood at a much more reasonable cost.   Worth the experience once, but I probably won't go back.  Wait times can be extremely long during the summer season, so either pack a snack for the kids or arrive early enough to be hungry by the time you're seated.

"It's a Restuarant, but it's so much more..."

We visited LuLu's at Homeport Marina when were vacationing in Orange Beach, Alabama.  LuLu's is owned by LuLu Buffet (little sister to Jimmy Buffet).  She knows how to have fun.  This "restaurant" is so much more than just a place to eat.  It has GREAT atmosphere and plenty of entertainment for all ages.  To quote LuLu, "We’re all about good food, good folks, good music, and good times. A place to confirm that "life is good……."
If you are on the Gulf Coast for any reason...DEFINITLEY make your way to LuLu's.
