Closed Thanksgiving & Christmas Day.
We went to Lowery Park Zoo on a chilly day in January. I think had the day been warmer we would have rated this attraction 5 stars, but because of the cold many animals were warming up inside and not available for feeding. We would have loved to feed the Giraffes or other animals, but will look forward to heading there another time to do that. We did love the layout of the zoo. Everything was easy to get to and there are tons of animals. One of the kids got a Lorakeet to land on her hands. It was the highlight of her visit. We got to see the Manatees eating and the playful Orangutans finding many uses for a paper bag. There are rides at this zoo which is not typical in the Northeast. They were a good diversion for our kids even if the log ride was not open due to the cold...we enjoyed the other rides. Two issues: The Winter Wonderland facades were still up and quite enticing for the kids, but they were not open. Also, the zoo seems to close attractions 15 minutes before closing time, so do not count on squeezing in those last minute sightings.
This is a great zoo park for all ages! Its nice to see all the animals and share some time with your family. A good idea is to take pictures of all the animals, print them and then you can play at home with your kids on naming the animals or their sounds from the trip you took. They also have a nice area for kids to play and get wet in those hot days! Money saver if you get a membership, I am pretty sure you can get into other area parks for free throughout the year on some months so check out the deals and save! God Bless You!
Our family is all about the zoos! They are "usually" very low cost, and provide hours of entertainment. We like to sit on benches and watch the animals and make up what words they are saying/thinking. The Lowry Park zoo is especially awesome because you get to feed the giraffes! They have a ramp you can walk up that takes you to giraffe height and then the giraffes come and eat crackers right out of your hands! Soooooooo cool! When was the last time you got to touch a giraffe? This is an experience just as cool as Disney and for way, way, WAY cheaper! Plus I got to nurse my infant son while sitting in front of a tank of manatees (my favorite animal) watching them swim...one of the highlights of my life!
We love Lowery Park! It's been the top rated zoo in the country for a reason. My kids LOVE this zoo. There are so many animals to see. You can even go in the pen with wallabies! Its a large zoo, so lots of walking, but it's worth it. They have several rides, including a water ride! And there is even an outdoor play area where the kids can get wet. This zoo is worth the triP!
Almost every city we visit, we take the kids to the Zoo. Lowry Park Zoo is definitely a nice one! The kids loved all the animal exhibits! The Zoo was large enough to keep us busy, but not too big as to be exhausting. Our daugher especially loved the monkey exhibits!! Food was good, but nothing to write home about. A little pricey to enter, but most zoo's are, in my opinion!
We have been to the zoo a number of times and I love the savings and flexibility of the family annual zoo pass. There are a number of rides and animal encounters that my kids absolutely love. Their favorite is getting to feed the giraffes. In years past, the cost of visiting the zoo has gotten a little high due to the tokens required for all of the rides and for feeding the animals, but the zoo has now created a ride pass that is more affordable. My kids never get tired of going and there is a great variety of activities available.
Last week was my first trip to Lowry Park Zoo - it is beautiful! Very cool place and a good half day adventure for our Tampa family. Our little one is almost two and loved seeing all the animals...especially the monkeys, which are in a great out-in-the-open spot in the middle. It was a bit cold, so the animals were not active (and, in some cases, completely absent). Not as big as other zoos around the country, though, so we decided against season passes and will treat this like a once-a-year activity.
This park has been rated #1 in the nation for several years, and I must agree. It has a really nice, big layout, with plenty of animal exhibits for kids to see, as well as fun rides for the kids. They just recently made all the rides free, which makes it an even better park. It's a little pricey, but well worth it, for all the things that are available there.
The Lowry Park Zoological Garden center is a classic! When I was in elementary school, every third grade class, got to go to the zoo. Even now my nephew just went to that same zoo, I went with him and it was so much fun! The other children loved looking around and just all was amazed; I am very glad I was able to go again. It is also a very fun and exciting place to go and take your family.
This a fabulous zoo! Tons of animals and exhibits to keep you busy. You can even pet and feed stingrays. If you have a membership; the first Friday of the month during the summer is Summer Safari Nights where the kids get to ride all the rides for free. Great deal for the kids and the parents!
If you are looking for something to do for a day or even a few hours the Lowry Park Zoo is a great option. Clean, friendly staff, normally not overly busy. They do have $5.00 days throughout the year but those do get pretty packed so I personally would not recommend going on one of those days. They have a play area as well as a water play area which is great in Florida as it does get pretty hot. Would suggest a stroller for younger children as there is a decent amount of walking. They have wax animals and pressed pennies to take home as souvenirs.
They offer a few different options for annual passes (individual, family, family plus, grandparents, etc.) so thats nice to have.
Would recommend the zoo for all ages and families!!
This place is awesome for the whole family!! My kids got to feed the giraffe, they got to ride a camel, there was a petting zoo, There is a full service dining restaurant with the view of the giraffes and the elephants. bring your swim trunks since there is a place for the kids to get wet and one of the rides will get you very wet. I will recommend you go in the cooler times of the year.
Animals were always sleeping. Annual passes do NOT include rides, or after hours activities. Vending machines were always off. My kids actually asked if they had to keep going back to the zoo...they said the animals are always sleeping. Definately not worth the money~ spend a little more for Busch Gardens tickets.
This was a smaller zoo, which was fine for the price. Best part was the orangatan. They had florida panthers and even the kangaroos looked the hot the day we visited. Lol. Was a fun day all around, and was nicely priced for a family. Was easy to find in Tampa as well.
If you're an animal lover this is the place to go! It has so many different types of animals and learning aides to teach you or your children about the world around us. Its extremly clean and has the most friendly staff possible. The offer a children play areas with water play areas, upclose areas to see animals, and of course so much more. You will enjoy ever second that you spend here. Its just an amazing place to spend some quality time with Family & Friends.
Lowry Park Zoo is a great day to spend with your family. The kids will have so much fun with the animals that you will be able to relax and take it all in. Tons of animals and fun things to do even get wet if it gets to hot. My kids love it! They also offer Birthday Parties and Sleepovers.
This zoo changed the way I think about zoos. I never knew there could be so much to see and do at the zoo. I grew up with our small zoo that had some good but small exhibits. At the Lowry Park Zoo I saw animals I'd never even heard of. Great for kids and families.
The zoo offers a wide variety of animals, my kids love penguins so seeing them was a plus. There are hands on areas were you can pet goats, feed giraffes, ride a camel. There are a few rides that cost extra from the basic zoo ticket. The skyride was fun, seeing the animals from above was cool. There is also a kid roller coaster, a safari ride, and a log flume.
Feeding giraffe, riding a camel, spotting cheetah and so much more are in store for you when visiting this gem of a zoo. The walking paths are wide, paved and meander through the peaceful natural habitats. This is a very stroller friendly place! Plenty of restrooms, water fountains and shady spots for a break. There are great places to grab tasty snacks (what you would expect but aslo cupcakes, ice cream and even beer!)
If the weather is bad, it's a challenge to find a place to wait out the storm or escape from the heat so it's best to venture to the zoo on a great weather day.
The zoo added a few new rides (log flume, kiddie coaster and outdoor splash areas) which are very popular with the ten-year old kiddos. An additional fee is required to ride ponies and camels.
Lowry Park Zoo is alot of fun for the family. There are all ltypes of birds and different animals. There is always something new and exciting to do.There is a playground for kids to run of some energy and for parents to rest for a few minutes. There are two different places for kids to cool of and get wet.At the entrance there are Manatee Fountains and farther along there are is the Billabong Fountains. You can also feed the giraffes. You can ride horses or camels. You can go on the Tree Top Safari or just a Safari! There is a Jungle Carousel and Boomers' Flyin' Bananas.Gator Falls Flume Rider and the newest ride Taz Tiger Family Coaster.I love the Zoo it's alot of fun!
