A lot of places are "okay" to take your kids, but this place is MADE for kids. I have fond memories of visiting when I was a child myself, and it's still fun, even for the adults! Not only do they have fun activities open all the time, they often have special events and deals. If you're visiting the city with kids, don't miss this place. I've been to other so called "Children's Museums" and none of them were anywhere near as fun!
My 4 year old son absolutely adored this museum. A kid's museum where he is actually ENCOURAGED to touch things? Yes, please.
It was very hand's on, and I believe it was a very positive learning experience for him.
The staff was all very friendly, and answered all (million) of his questions.
The grocery store was the biggest hit. Don't skip this if you travel to NOLA.
The Louisiana Children's Museum has something for children (and adults) of all ages. It really is a wonderful way to spend an entire day (or even just part). It offers hands on learning (a grocery store, news station, and cafe are just a few of the exhibits). They have puppets and story telling on Thursday mornings (just the dates in case it changes). Plan on spending a while- there's so much to do you'll have to pry them away (or they'll have to pry you away)!
My son loves the little grocery store. There are so many things for the kids to do that they can have fun for hours. I especially like that they have a separate area for younger children so that you don't have to worry about arguments over activities with the older kids. We go for a morning and ended up staying most of the day!
This is such a fun place for our little ones. Their favorite activities are the bubble exhibit and the kid-sized grocery store. Our daughter loves shopping for groceries and then ringing them up at the checkout! They also offer birthday party events as well, which are a lot of fun and super convenient.
We have two boys ( 3 and 6 years old)who enjoy going to the museum. It is two floors of entertainment. There is also a room dedicated to kids 3 and under. There is a kid's cafe, grocery store and arts & craft room. Lots of exhibits and things kids can do hands-on. You are encouraged to pack a lunch from home and eat in the cafeteria. It has so much to do. We get a yearly membership and visit at least once a month. The kids never get tired of going.
The LCM is a perfect choice, especially if you are staying in the Warehouse District or if you want to grab a bite (or a dance) at Mulates before or after your visit. It's been a staple of New Orleans for many years, before every city had a Children's Museum and so they've had a lot of time and practice to get it right. They have tons of activities for kids of all ages. And they always have morning activities on Saturdays for toddlers. My son loved it!
