"pricey"

i remember when i was a young kid i went here on a field trip and liked it but now its kinda a pricey place to take my kids although they have cool things there that kids like i think a zoo is a better place to go to ? i really think that you can just go to the ocean for free build sand castles and have fun you can go fishing with your kids tooo .

"Fantastic"

I love aquariums, and so does my family. The Aquarium of the Pacific is a really great place to learn about all the creatures of the sea. I grew up on the Oregon coast, so I had plenty of opportunity to visit tidepools, but there's not many of those in southern California. So I love all the outdoor viewing areas and touchable creatures at the aquarium. My two-year-old son is fascinated by the turtles and fish, and really loves all there is to see here.

"Pretty good!"

I was amazed at some of the reviews here! One of them says it's kind of small but I think it's just the right size! I mean it's not the same size as the Monterey Bay or the New Englad aquariums but it's a great place to spend the day!

They have great displays, a "petting" section and the animals look well taken care of. There is access for strollers and the restrooms are clean and spacious.

Before you start going through the aquarium you should take a look at what the schedule for the day is. That way you can catch all the "feeding" shows and other activities.

OVerall a good value!

"Fish Land!"

We love fish. So we would like almost any aquarium, but our favorite is the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. The best part is how they chose to organize the exhibits by the regions where you find the fish and things. You can make one big circle and go to everything in order or skip around, but I don't recommend it so you don't miss anything.

"Fantastic all around"

I  have been to a handful of aquariums in the southern part of the US and this one is by far the best.  The fish are absolutely beautiful.  They are exotic, plentiful and just stunning.  They are artfully displayed in big tanks by breed.  The aquarium is large and nicely organized.  This is definitely a great activity for big and small kids alike.

"you can do it in a day..."

My first word of advice…do not take the train here with small children. We love taking the train and all of the signage on the gold line said that it was a short, fun ride…well 2 hours later and quite a walk once you get off of the blue line…just don’t do it…
We have had a member ship here. And we do enjoy this aquarium. It is a great day trip. The kid’s favorite part is always the outside exhibit. They could play out there all day. They love petting the stingrays and the other sea life. And of course they love to play in the water features outside on a hot day:) It is a fairly small aquarium…so I would only designate one day to see everything. But you might want to check their schedule. We were lucky enough to catch some of their special events and they really fill the day out nicely and give you more bang for your buck!
If you’re going as a larger family it almost makes sense to buy the membership…but if you don’t live close by…it is kind of a trek to get back there.

"Great Aquarium!!"

This place is wonderful! It is a great size and it is beautiful. It has a wonderful variety of fish and even a bird sanctuary that you can go into and be with the birds and even feed them nectar. They have a touch tank and special tanks that you can see the sharks and seals up close and below the water level. We love it!

"A tad pricey, but it was fun."

While my children definitely enjoyed this excursion, it was crowded the day we were there. Definitely would do the aquarium again, but pick a weekday, rather than the weekend! There were lots of exhibits and displays for the children to see and most all of it was at there level, so they could see even if they were sitting in the stroller. I would do it again, but only if I could find discounted tickets- $25.00 per adult is expensive, in my opinion!

"interesting"

It was very interesting for my two year old to see fishes and sharks up close.  She was most interested in the huge fish tank at the front entrance.  We also enjoyed the various fish tanks.  This is a once in a lifetime experience.  Your little ones will be fascinated.

"Nemo"

This is a really nice aquarium.  It is big enough to keep you there for at least 4 hours.  My 4 & 2 year old loved all the "Nemo"fish.  They have feeding times where the kids can talk to the divers and the divers talk back while they are feed and sharing information about the marine life.  There are many touch tanks that are fabulous for little explorers and kept my kids from getting bored.  Long Beach also has some nice views of the bay and makes for a nice place to picnic and take pictures.  We went to Bubba Gumps across the street and had a great dinner.

"The best place ever!"

This is my favorite place in Long Beach. In fact for our 5 days stay in Long Beach we spend 2 days at the Aquarium. I mean 2 whole days, because there is so much to see and do there. The animal collection is amazing! There are sharks, sting rays, spider crabs, sea dragons, sea otters… I love how many interactive exhibitions they have. You can pet a shark or touch a sea hare. The place is very well design and not too crowded. Also, the gift shop is really good.

"Long Beach Aquarium with toddlers"

If your toddler has a more advanced attention span than he/she might enjoy the different rooms of fish and the outside attractions featuring stingrays, walrus and birds. My son does not have an acute attention span so he did not really get the concept of the aquarium. He was interested in the rainwater exhibit but that is only because he loves anything that has running water running through it. This aquarium is not fancy and it is small. It could use some new glass where you view the fish and maybe some interactive stories for younger children. Overall, if your in the area and your children enjoy looking at sealife than this would make a great stop.

"Too much money for my pockets"

We have gone when the kids were smaller.  Its small and has plenty of fish, sea life and birds.  But, I think it cost way too much for what they have to offer.  The tickets are
•Adult: $24.95
•Child (3-11): $12.95
•Senior (62+): $21.95
There are special deals, like pay for an adult and kids is free....But, I thought 25.00 for me was way too much.  I know a lot of people that LOVE this place, I am just not one of them.

"Awesome!"

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a great place to take the kiddo's. They have a lot of great animals to look at. They have some sharks for the kids to pet...which was our favorite. They also had a lot of shows to watch. Overall, great place to go any day of the week.

"Good for younger kids"

Checked this out when our son was about 4-yrs-old, and it was big enough to keep his attention while he explored, but not an all day event by any means. Not a must-see, but good to do once in a while. However, there are plenty of local eateries and shops surrounding the museum to visit and stroll.

"Love Love Love the Sea Otters"

We went this past week (on a Thursday). My toddler LOVED it.

If you are going on a weekday do not go before noon...too many school kids.  Your child will have to maneuver his way to see things. After lunch it was nicer...kids were all gone and I was able to let my child just walk up to the exhibits with no problems.

We brought lunch with us and ate outside in the Sea Lion Exhibit. Bring extra clothes for your kids cause there is a water play area and the kids are sure to get wet.

Parking is $8

WAYS TO SAVE:
Most Fridays they have FREE entrance to Shark Lagoon from 6pm - 9pm. You go through a side entrance and you have access to the outside area and see the shark tank with live music. I wouldn't drive to do this (or pay for parking), but if I was already in the area I definitely would.

GOLDSTAR has tickets for $15.50 for Adult, $9 per child to visit from 3pm - 6pm (perfect time)

READY SET GROW LA has coupons you can print out....save $6 Adult $2 Child

VISIT LONG BEACH has coupons you can print out...save $3 Adult $1.50 per Child

"OK"

the aquarium was ok, but only because it's the only on around los angeles.  My 18 mo old had a blast for for adults, it just wasn't worth what we paid for.  The 'Shark Reef" at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas was way better and cheaper.  I would recommend it, but only if you have toddlers or a little older kids.

"Long Beach Aquarium"

Hadn't been here in over 9 years, and I was very happy to see all the new improvements and additions to the aquarium.  I really enjoyed the dive tank where you can see actual divers interact with the fish and also talk to members of the audience.  Inside there are a lot of great visual tanks - i.e. spider crabs, and jellyfish and they new sealion exhibit that opened up a month or two ago were my faves.  Outside is more impressive - sting ray petting area, outdoor play area, and the bird cage where you can feed live birds nectar & they perch up on your arm or shoulder (you have to watch out for poop once in a while).  The food inside the aquarium was so so for the price, so your best bet is to eat before you get there and pack snacks and water for the location. Afterwards, you can take a leisurely jaunt around the marina, or take a 45 min. harbor cruise conveniently located just outside the aquarium.

"Small & overpriced!"

This is a beautiful place.  The animals and fish are all in clean well taken care of exhibits.  I found it to be a little overpriced.  But we found some discounted tickets and my daughter who is 2 is free so we decided to go.  There is a nice bird exhibit that allows you to get up close and personal with the birds and your able to touch some rays and small sharks.  The sea lion show is also nice.  It's a nice place to take the kids to learn about sea life.  My daughter had so much fun.  The tanks allow you to get right up to all the sea life.  The surrounding area is also nice to explore.  So make a day out of long beach, and include the aquarium.  Instead of making a day of the aquarium.  It doesn't take long to get through the entire aquarium.  I recommend because the kids really enjoy themselves.
