Perfect for a rainy weekend. My daughter is 5 and she lasts about 45 minutes without losing interest. We go about once every 6 weeks as there are usually new animals to see. There is a nice park and picnic area next door. It is worth visiting and then picnicing afterwards. They also offer Birthday party packages.
Perfect if you have a little time to spend with the kids. Easy enough to take two or more kids with just mom or dad. This is a small museum, where the animals are left to be the entertainment. We have always followed the museum up with playing at the park which is just a quick walk on the same property.
Wonderful museum for kids. I'd say its more for children ages 3+. It would be nice if they had a few more live animals for the children to see. There is a park thats wonderful right next to the museum thats good for picnics and they also have a bbq area as well. Wonderful spot!
That's one of my children favorite place in the Bay Area. It is small but it teaches the children and their families about protecting animals. The animals that are on displayed have been injured one way or an other and it would be impossible for them to survive in the wild. My children were very touched by the animals and their story. They have a game for children that takes the visit to another level so make sure you ask for it at the entrance.
Give it a chance, you will not regret it.
It's a small museum with a few live birds and animals and some other exhibits. It's a quick trip but they do have some good naturalist type programs that kids enjoy. There is a great playground and lawn area right behind it which is perfect for a picnic.
Sometimes rainy days get us to drive the 30 minutes or so to Walnut Creek for a change of scenery. One of the best destinations out that way is the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. I have been hesitant to go there for a while because an indoor "zoo" never sounded very fun and actually seemed a bit depressing. I was completely wrong. LWM is a really fun way to spend a couple of hours with your kiddos. Our favorite exhibit was the large bird room where you can see owls, hawks and even a huge bald eagle. There are all sorts of cool critters to check out and even pet. Go to it!
