Wonderful surfing beach which is perfect for children learning to surf.  Little stream on the south end of the beach is a delight for young children who don't like the waves.

"Fog Festival on September 24 - 25, 2011"

Although this annual Fog Fest is held along Palmetto Drive in Pacifica, it is in close proximity to Linda Mar Beach.  Why not make a drive along the Pacific coastal highway and check both out!  The fun can be checked out on the web site for the festival at :
http://pacificcoastfogfest.com/

Happy fog hunting and enjoy the cool of back to school days!

"Best beach close to SF"

This is a beautiful beach (it's actually called Pacifica State Beach, not Linda Mar Beach) that's very easy to get to from San Francisco. It's warmer and cleaner than Ocean Beach--Pacifica has a reputation for being cold and foggy, but this is largely undeserved--and it's in a cove so the wave action won't scare the kids (this is where pretty much everyone in the Bay Area learns to surf).

There's a beautiful trail that runs behind the beach and over the hill to Rockaway Beach, the views from the top of the hill are lovely.

And if you feel like a change of pace, grab some sandwiches at the Safeway and drive down Linda Mar Boulevard until it ends, where you'll find San Pedro Valley County Park. There's a flat, easy trail that meanders through the valley, a beautiful picnic area, and almost nobody ever comes here. (Or stop at Luigi's for excellent pizza, about halfway between the beach and the park.)

"Nice and clean"

This is a nice and clean stretch of beach.  Lots of things for the kids to do - plenty of area where they can build sand castles, without worry.  There are a lot of surfers at this beach, which are very fun to watch.  Try the walk-up taco bell window if you get hungry!

"Awesome kick back beach"

This beach is a great beach to relax on when it's sunny.  (Pacifica is often foggy!)  Nona's Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant nearby.  You can also grab food at the sandwich shop, as well as at Extreme Pizza.  The NorCal surf shop offers a wide selection of surf and skate wear, as well as surfboard lessons and rentals.  A Taco Bell resides right on the beach, perhaps one of the best locations for a Taco Bell that I know of.  Head across Route 1 to the shopping center where you can grab Hawaiian grub at L&L Drive-In.

"Best beach in Pacifica for children"

Unlike the other beaches in Pacifica which have strong undertow, Linda Mar Beach is gentle and more sheltered.  Sand is nicer, but can be dirty at various times depending on the tides.  Ample parking, showers and bathrooms make this beach easily accessible for families.
