Established in 1942, Lemos Farm began as a dairy farm, morphed to a Christmas tree farm and is now brings hours of fun to children young and old. Kids can ride ponies, explore two haunted houses (one that's more young child friendly and one that's scarier), and tour the farms pumpkin patch from a seat on the John Deer Choo-choo train.
The place doesn't have much activities.Plus the place was dirty and small for an outdoor facility.
Overall, nothing was special,looked a typical tourist trap.We bacame really bored after 30min,we just had one train ride and goat feeding.Ponies looks very sad.
We wouldn't stop by here again unless we go to halfmoon bay for another thing.
If you want to spend one morening or afternoon with your little kids on peninsula,even local swimming pool or neaby parks are much better. And if you want to have something for a change,and expect amusement park things..go to zoos and amusement parks!
pros;
-free Parking
-free admission
-crane digging zone was nice and unique
cons;
-you need buy tickets for each activities
-most areas including one pony ride area were occupied by party groups
-dirty (goat feeding area and rooster arevery stinky and dirty)
-rides move with quartes look very old and not well maintained(some of them don't work)
-to enter very little toddler playpen costs (but the place has only a small plastic slide,not worth the money)
-no facility guide or sign at the entrance
-very crowded
We LOVE Lemos Farms! We go there every year in October to pick pumpkins, take a hay ride, jump in big pumpkin-shaped bounce houses, ride ponies, eat homemade pumpkin pie, go on a train ride, and get "scared" in their haunted house. We've thrown a party there before and the price was VERY reasonable for what was offered. Kudos to this family-owned farm!
My kids love this place. It is fun any time of year, but Halloween takes the cake. The weather is still lovely, and the whole place is decked out for the festivities. Lemos is great for birthday parties- there are private areas where you can set up a jumpy house and get the grill going while the kids go play! The only quibble about the birthday pary areas is the picnic table seating- very difficult to manuever with small kids, especially if you have to keep getting up and down all the time.
We love this place! It's a great place for kids and adults. They have rides (hay rides, train rides, pony rides) and animals. There is an area where kids can feed the animals. It's great during Halloween month because they have their yearly pumpkin patch and have tons of activities. We also had our son's birthday there. Excellent choice to throw a birthday party - the kids will all love it.
We had my son's 4th birthday party here. It is an awesome place to have a party! For under $400, we were able to have ponies and unlimited train rides for up to 30 kids. The area we were assigned even had its own bouncy house and plenty of space for our guests/food.
There is so much for kids to do here, besides horses and trains. There is also a fully-loaded playground, chicken coops, goat feeding - you name it.
An annual trip we take every October. Get their early (opens at 9a) so you don't run into traffic with all the people going to the pumpkin festival which is usually the third weekend in Oct.
The hayride was fun this year because they changed the haunted farm ride for the train. They did have a haunted house which was new from '08 and that was scary for our preschool daughter. Band played in front of the pond, with live ducks. Balloon maker was a hit for all of the kids. Also, vendor selling inflatable toys. The pony ride was a hit for our girl as well as feeding the animals. Price for the rides was reasonable and the food was average...bring a lunch for sure. yes ATM onsite. There is another pumpkin farm directly across the street which offers a train ride and pony rides, but Lemos is our favorite.
We've been to many parties and get togethers here. They are very good with parties, but you can also just show up and play. They have ponies you can ride on, a "haunted" train ride (the ride was much better before they made it permanently haunted), a play area, petting zoo, hayride, and during parties you can have a jumpy house. The location is also often cold, so it is a nice place to get away from the heat of more inland areas.
During pumpkin season (the fall), this place is really happening and it's a blast. That's what the four stars are for. In the "off-season," I'd give it two stars.
If you do go in the fall, go early, because traffic builds up on Hwy. 92 after 10-11am, and avoid the area during the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival.
We had a huge group of kids come here and we made it a private party since there were so many of us. We had our own set of ponies for the kids to ride and we got to ride the little trains and let the kids pet and feed the goats. There were newly born goats in the pen as well. The kids really enjoyed this place. There is a little park with lots of stuff for the kids to play on and during Halloween they really decorate the place. It was lots of fun and just the right size of place for the kids to see everything and enjoy it all. Really cute place and nice staff. It's right near the coast at Half moon Bay.
We're still newbie parents and came here because lots of folks seem to take their kids here for parties and such. We went today during MLK weekend with our toddler and were majorly disappointed.
Our 23 month old boy was just basically petrified of everything there was to do at the farm except for the Little Tikes play structure in the "Play Town" area of the farm. So, we ended up paying $5 to take him to a playground that smelled like manure!
The one saving grace is the staff is extremely kind and understanding of kid's who don't want to participate in any of the activities. Our trip to Lemos basically can be chronicled as this:
1. Arrive at the farm. Son sees the ponies at the end of the parking lot and takes off excitedly to see them.
2. We redirect him towards the main area of the farm and he's jazzed to visit the chicken coop with the crowing rooster and lively chickens.
3. We then pay $1 for a cup of goat feed to give to the cute mama and baby goats in the pen. Son says the very appropriate "mama do" and I proceed to feed the goats.
4. We go to the front and buy tickets to ride the pony ($5), the hayride ($9 - $3/person), and train ride (another $9) - did I mention that this place is pricey?
5. We then attempt to engage our son in each of these activities by uncurling his arms and legs from my body, but just end up going back to the sales girl in the front and getting a refund.
6. Pay $5 for Play Town and just hang out there for the remaining 30 minutes. There's a bounce house there which might have been fun... but you guessed it, that was scary to him to.
Bottomline: My child was probably too young to enjoy Lemos. Use your judgment because you'll either spend a lot of money because your kids love it or you'll feel like it's a waste because all your kid does is go up and down the slide for the entire trip. I hope it's more fun for you then for us.
Lemos farm is great for birthday parties, but they whiz you through like cattle. Not very personal, but the kids have a good time with the animals. Make sure you bring your own food. The snack bar is pretty lame.
