"Great for ages 2-6"

I know that LegoLand markets itself for the older child as well, but this park is perfect for little ones.  My 2 1/2 year old could go on almost every ride.  The highlights of the day were: the river boats, the lego Adventure ride (think Lego Indiana Jones), and the Duplo area.

We probably spent about an hour playing the the water play area by Duplo.  There is a water feature that would play different instruments as the children ran through until there was a symphony.  My son had a blast.

The Duplo area is filled with lifesize replicas of Legos original Duplo sets.  There is a fire station, hospital, house etc.  My son enjoyed going in and out of the different sections, up stairs, down slides, on the train...it was all safe.  There were also two areas set up with very large, soft Duplo blocks where he built a large tower.   The ground in this area made of squishy play mat material.

The Miniature area is currently filled with exhibits for Las Vegas, Star Wars, The Capital, multiple California locations,  The East Coast, and the New York skyline.  New Orleans will be coming next.  While one would think that this section is mainly for adults and older children, my little ones and quite a few around him enjoyed watching the miniature electric cars, boats, kayaks, and trolly cars go through the exhibits.

We ate at a pizza/pasta place by the Duplo area.  It was different from other theme park restaurants in that the personal pizzas were made to order.  The four adults enjoyed a very yummy veggie, feta, and chicken pizza.  There was a kids menu that was typical theme park fare.

This park is expensive.  It really is right up there with Disneyland.  But, we really feel that we got our money's worth.  We were at the park from opening to closing 10-5 and were able to see every area without rushing.  It is not a place that I would consider getting a multiple day pass for, and if you could find a discount ticket, that would be even better.   LegoLand does offer a AAA discount and the tickets can sometimes be found at Coscto for less money.

The only other downside that we found is that the park is filled with quite a few lego statutes and figurines, which are great, however, they are really starting to age.  They are faded, and it is obvious that they have been outside exposed to the elements.  While this is understandable, it would also be great to have them updated.  When we are spending so much money, it's hard to see the place looking run-down.

Over-all, LegoLand is definitely worth the trip, especially for kids who enjoy being outside, and ESPECIALLY for the preschool age child.

"Great fun for little ones"

This park was great, not too packed or anything.  Make sure if you want to get the most out of it, you have a child that is at least 42". They will be able to ride every ride. I also have a 36" and a new born. There is about 3 or 4 rides the new born could enjoy.  Just be prepared to spend A LOT of money for lunch/dinner, unless you pack a lunch and leave it in a cooler in your car. It's not that far of a walk.

"Needs More Little Kid Rides"

I've been here twice.  Once when my two oldest daughters were too young to appreciate the beautiful lego-sculpted cities  and too small to go on the majority of the rides.  I thought it was for boys and a waste.  We went back recently and my opinion has slightly changed.  Although I still feel this theme park was created for boys, it has become more fun now that my girls are tall enough to go on the big rides.  It was fun!  They enjoyed the park very much.  Unfortunately, my two younger daughters were too small to ride the big girl rides and cried the entire time while watching the older girls go on their rides.  Thankfully they added a few more rides for the little kids and plenty of shops that helped me occupy the little ones.  It cost a fortune to buy something from each shop, but it kept them quiet.  I wish they had more little kid rides.  They had a water area, which helped in the hot San Diego weather.  I personally enjoyed the beautiful lego-sculpted cities.  The kids were bored with it and wanted to move very  quickly through that section, but I did my best to educate them there.

"Pricey but tons of fun!"

My kids were almost 2 and almost 4 when we went and we had a blast. There were lots of rides, a water park section with slides for big and small kids, and tons of items made out of Legos like Bob the builder, Thomas the Train, a giant dragon and more. One thing that I was disappointed in was that there was a height AND age requirement for some of the rides that my one week short of four year old (who was way taller than the required height) wasn't able to go on. I think that a height requirement would have sufficed! Over all if this park weren't so far from our home we'd probably get season passes (even if it were just for the water park section in Legoland!) The boys loved every minute of it! I do echo some of the other reviewers though that this is not for teens so much but younger elementary kids!

"Great for kids who like legos"

Both of my boy (3&5 at the time) love legos. Thus, they loved legoland . Their favorite activity was looking at the cities built from legos. The rides were also great! Perfect for younger children. I think it is great for kids 8 and under.

We did a two day pass and loved going twice. Totally worth it!

"It was Ok"

We went when our son was 4.  It was a good time but there were some of the rides that he wasn't big enough for, which was frustrating for him and us as they were generally the ones that looked like actual fun for us.  Also on one ride they had someone checking height at the bottom where you got in line and then again at the top, my son made it through the first check only to be told after waiting in line at the top that he wasn't tall enough.  This did not go over well with our 4 year old, lots of tears later we were able to move on.  He did love digging in the sand for dinosaur bones, and the fun firetown academy was a favorite ride.  Older kids will like the rollercoaster themed rides, but I don't think kids over 12 would get enough out of this park.  I wish we would have waited until he was 6 before we brought him since it was a one shot deal for us.  If you have a child who is a huge lego fan this park is a definite must do, but otherwise it's good if your in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

"Amazing for my lego-lovers"

Legoland is a great park for my kids.  We have been there three times.  One of the kid's favorites is to ride around driving their own car and getting a driver's license.  We always enjoy looking at all the amazing lego constuctions in mini-land.  My kids come home with some great ideas for using their legos!

"Kids 4-8 will love it!!"

I am changing my previous review as we just went again this past weekend and my kids (now age 4 & 6) really enjoyed it.  Here's how the park breaks down for these age groups:

Babies:  I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of things for my little 1-year-old to do while the older kids rode rides.  There are a lot of hands on Duplo block zones (as would be expected) for the kids to play in, but also some pint sized slides & playground areas, in addition to some sand digging fun, all located throughout the park in various locations, typically  near the larger attractions. .  Check out: Swabbie's Deck, Dig Those Dinos (now free!), DUPLO playtown, & DUPLO Play.

Toddler/Preschool:  If your little ones are easily distracted, note the above locations & head them over to the play areas just for them.  If they are desperate to do what big/brother & sister do, you are in for a rough day!!  There are hardly any rides for this age group. :(

4 & up (and 42" and up):  the park has a LOT of attractions for kids that are at least 4 & 42" tall.  This appears to be it's main thrust- entertaining this age group.  The "thrill" rides are not so thrilling that most little ones won't attempt them, and there are plenty of smaller rides and activities for this age group.  The most recent trip we took, both of my kiddos were in this group and they had a blast!

9 & up (or a very younger adventurous version of any age):  There is very little in this park that is actually thrilling compared to most major theme park standards, with the Knight's Tournament being the one major exception).  My older niece (who is quite a thrill seeker) quickly got bored in this park.

Hope this breakdown helps you plan your visit to this park!

"Legoland"

Family loved it. It took most of the day to see it all. Plan on going again next summer. Prices a little high, buy discounts on ebay. The discounts made it worth the trip. would of been way over priced without the coupons. Will never go without one. The food here was very good and not too high. family of 5 lunch for $35.

"Legoland"

We took my 7 year old stepson to Legoland this summer.  He is a Lego fanatic and we thought he would love it.  Parts of it he loved and other parts, not so much.  We enjoyed looking at the world recreated in Legos and other structures around the park built out of Legos.  He also enjoyed the Mindstorms activity.  The rides, however, were geared towards younger children.
The park could definitely be covered in 1 day if necessary.

"Fabulous for boys"

I have two boys and they love this place!  Of course, they are into Legos so to see little cities, firehouses, police stations, everything made out of legos is heaven to them?  The rides are great for young kids and not too scary, and they can drive little cars and boats as well.  They also had fun shooting water out of lego looking firearms.  This place makes for a great day for families.

"Not worth the cost"

For the cost almost at par with Disneyland park, it is a disappointment. Kids enjoy the place of course but nothing very fabulous or interesting that is mention worthy. Can spend the money and be in a dreamland in Disney instead. Because of the hype, it looked more crowded than at Disneyland on a christmas holiday

"Great for kids 2 and up"

Took my son when he was 1 and he could only ride on 2 rides. But my mom got us tickets for free and was able to take him again now that he is 2 1/2, was able to go on a lot more. Check out the apple fries (to die for!!!!), Legoland offers a lot of activities year round like Brick or Treat that my son loved
The dino dig is a lot of fun for younger kids to play in the sand and dig up dinosaur bones. They also have panning for gold which is a lot of fun

"Legoland CA"

on our California tour of theme parks (no, seriously, we did Disney, Universal, Sea World, and lego Land) this was by far the very best.  It was amazing for the younger two (ages 2 & 5) & fun for the older ones (8, 11, and 12).   the park was very accomodating for babies -- bathrooms, meal choices...  great shows and the park was small enough to be manageable (not too overwhelming).  have fun!

"great concept, not the best experience."

Great place for 3 to 9 year olds, but thats really your only window.  Nothing much at all for really young ones and older kids would be bored, although my husband loved the lego store :)  We made the mistake of going at Christmas time.  I thought thought we were getting an early start by getting there by the opening time but it took 1hour to get from the freeway exit to the front of the ticket booth. Buying tickets take forever because they have so many different promotions going on, they take the time to read every offer's fine print to figure out how to charge you. Even after getting a ticket you still had to wait to get into the park because they can't manage to get the people thru the turnstile fast enough.
Restaurants were overrun. I was afraid to lose my children inside the mob scene that had no apparent flow to the place. Even when you were willing to cough up the cash for the overpriced food, they had run out or made you wait (again) while they made some more.

"Heaven for Five Year Olds!"

My kids absolutely loved LegoLand!  We went at a time when it was not at all busy (november) and had the best time.  Don't go there with a time limit though, because you will want to take it all in.  I must say, I wish they cleaned their Lego sculptures a little more, especially the ones near water, because it was very noticeable to an adult.  However, the kids didn't give a hoot and had a blast on a Lego jungle safari, a trip to storybook land, a soaring coaster over the park, an Indiana Jones adventure, a Lego Firetruck race, and sooooo much more that I cannot list!  If your kids are Lego Maniacs, this is something you cannot miss within that phase of their life.  Even better, there is almost nothing a 5 year old cannot do here--can Disneyland say as much?  Nope!  Is it spendy, sure (though you can find free kids tickets at schools or in boxes of Legos sometimes), but the memories are well worth it.  My son has a pic of him with a huge Bionicle by his bed, and he will never let me take it down:)  So worth it.

"Definitely a good time!"

If you've never been to Legoland, you have to go! It is fun for the whole family. There are so many amazing lego display scattered throughout the park to enjoy. Some of my favorite photo ops have been with Indiana Jones, Hagrid & Harry Potter, and of course Darth Vader (all made of Legos). Then there's the rides! They are just perfect for kids, nothing too scary. We love the whole Egyptian section. The Beedle Bounce is a blast & my litter ones love the airplane ride. The 4-D shows are also worth seeing. You can always get discount tickets, too and now they even have parkhopper tickets to include their aquarium (only takes 30 minutes to see) and the water park! It's a blast!

"Loved it!"

We went there with our 2 year old boy and my younger siblings over thanksgiving break. All the kids loved it! There are rides for young ones and older kids. It's a fun place to visit and you don't have the LONG lines like Disney. Would definitely recommend visiting if you've already done Disneyland and want something fun. Also, Costco sometimes does tickets got cheaper. We paid $80 for a 3 month membership.

"Kids didn't want to leave"

Having a preschooler and a 1st grader, we made this trip all the way to California for our two lego lovers!  This was a fun, fun place for this age whether they love legos or not.  We ended up going for 2 days and could've done another if we weren't limited on time.  We went 5 months ago and they still ask every few days to go back!  I would recommend the multiple day pass for this age group.  Kids any older may be done after one day.

"Wow"

This park really is great for kids of any age and for the Lego enthusiast. My husband is what I call a "Lego nerd", and wanted to see the park while on our honeymoon. Nine years later, he can't wait till our son is old enough to enjoy it, so we can go back and take our kids.
