Lawson's Landing is a campground - fishing and boating resort located at the mouth of Tomales Bay, California. The cool weathers and family friendly atmosphere make for great summer escapes.
At low tides in the spring and fall, Giant Clams  can be dug out from the mudflats.  Rent a boat at Lawson's landing and head out to the mudflats.  It's a messy activity what is great for family bonding.  You have to dig about 4-5 feet deep to dig the clams out.  Bring buckets, shovels and change of clothes.  Also very helpful is the large PVC pipe that traps the clam that you can purchase at the store in Lawson's Landing. Without this device, you'll be working twice as hard.

Check the tile calendar.  Clamming is possible when the low tide is between .5 or lower

"Great family fun"

My whole family goes here every year for Thanksgiving, we love it. There is always thousands of people and it is always a safe family environment. The kids love to go crabbing and fishing from the pier at the marina, where you can also rent boats. always a fun time, rain or shine

"Favorite beach to find critters"

We love to go to Dillon Beach!  It's always easy to park and there is always something interesting to explore.  Anemones, crabs, shimmering algae, rocks, sand.  It's endless, and we haven't even mentioned the water!  Bring digging tools and a bucket so you can make the most of what you find.
