I have to say, out of everything this park offers - great location, great playset, wonderful green space and picnic area, my favorite is the pond and the ducks. The ducks are always up for a snack, so be sure to go with your left over bread. Easy access to this park, off of the main road (Whitlock) also offers great places nearby to grab lunch or a snack and head to the park: McDonalds and Publix. Laurel Park is also quite close to Marietta square. So, once you've dragged the kids on the historical tour, or shopping afternoon, treat them to a trip to the park.
Metro Atlanta has many great parks, and this is one of the best. There is a duck pond, a huge playset, a tiny playset, swings, tennis courts, and pavilions and picnic tables. I've seen lots of birthday parties and family reunions there. It's very scenic and shady on hot summer days. Also, right across the street from Manning Drive is McDonald's with a rocketship playground. Go there and grab an ice cream cone when you're done at the park.
