A good place to visit in Huntersville is Latta Plantation, a nineteenth-century cotton plantation located in the Latta Park Nature Preserve. The 1,090-acre park borders Mountain Island Lake and includes an interpretive center, equestrian center, and hiking and horse trails. In addition, the park presents living history tours of the James Latta house on the first and third Thursday of each month. The two-story Federalstyle house, built in 1800, is elaborately decorated to match the intricate detail of the architecture.
My son LOVES just walking around in nature and this is a great place to do it. We have never gone inside the house but the walking trails and areas themselves are worth it alone. This is an activity we do often with the family and something I really think anyone in this area should do.
My daughter was invited to a birthday party at Latta Plantation and we were super impressed! It made me sad that she has a winter birthday. The staff was super friendly and provided great activities for the kids, including pony rides! Ilove that you are free to walk around the stables and see the different horses. My daughter had such a great time!
We attended a birthday party here and it was lots of fun! The kids all got to ride the ponies and they even had some bounce houses set up for the kids! A very nice experience! I think the prices are a bit high but if your little guy or girl likes horses, this is a great way to have celebrate their birthday!
