What was a former dump was converted to a “diamond in the desert” and one of thetop performance destinations in the country, at times holding 250,000 spectators. With twenty-two tracks and a dizzying array of races, including the prestigious NASCARNextel Cup, the NASCAR-sanctioned speedway has something for all raccar enthusiasts. Fans can attend some of the top races in the country as well as weekly events that run the gamut of stock car spectator sports. Visitors cram the stdium for notable races like the NASCARBusch Series, NASCARNextel West Series, and NASCARFeatherlite Southwest Series. Ticket prices for these events can exceed $100, but from March until November, weekly racing series are very pocketbook friendly, with tickets going for $10 or less. There is variety here as well, including everything from monster trucks and pulling competitions to motocross racing and freestyle. Kids love the World Mini event, the Air MX freestyle Motocross, the Penzoil World of Outlaws, National Hot Rod Association, and, of course, drag racing.
Our family has people who race in some of the amateur racing that takes place there. It's a lot of fun, but hard to take small children too. It's very loud and can get hot. But, if your kids are into cars and racing I am sure it would be a blast! They also have jolly jumpers and other fun things set up for the kids to do.
