Handicap and stroller accesible throughout the trail. Babies in strollers or backpacks do great.
This is an absolute must -do activity. Load up your Ergo baby carrier, bring the dog, and enjoy the best city hike in the country. There are plenty of small private side trails to explore. Though please tell your kids not to pick up stuff off the ground. And for goodness sakes, don't let them bring you any "presents". Otherwise, you might find yourself the unwilling recipient of used prophylatics. "Look mom! What's this rubbery thing?" Trail Maintenance funding seems to have gotten the axe from this last round of budget cuts.
Great hike. Wonderful views. At the end of a trail is a local cafe' (slight downhill from one end of the trail) serving breakfast and lunch. It has been there for 40 years! A good place to refuel. If you don't feel like hiking back, you can take the Geary bus back on to say 32nd Avenue and walk north towards the entrance of Land's End. If you do this, bring a detailed map because you will be entering the Sea Cliff residential area and it meanders and can get confusing. Bus fare is $2.00 exact change. Have fun!
Short and easy enough walk for all three generations. Spectacular views of the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. Part of the way is paved. Some of the path borders steep cliffs so watch the young ones. You can hike in/out or do a loop to the Legion of Honor (slightly longer). Can make it a day and pair the hike w/ a frolic at Ocean Beach and lunch at one of the local surf cafes.
An easy, 2.5-mile walk, with views of the Golden Gate, the Marin Headlands, and the shore, plus seabirds and marine mammals for company. There are benches along the way.
Great place to hike as a family. The views of the Pacific Ocean and Golden Gate Bridge are fantastic! You can hike down and explore the Sutro baths (just ruins now) and be a part of San Francisco's golden era. There are also some shipwrecks to be viewed. Some of the trails are shared with mountain bikers, so keep an eye and ear out for them. At some points along the trail there are blackberry bushes, which we enjoy when they are ripe. It can be windy at times along the coast. Wear layers for the changing weather. Bring water, snacks and a picnic lunch. You won't be sorry you did this hike!
