Rides, parks, gardens, smaller-child rides, food stands, carnival games, grandstand shows, Pioneer Village recreated Western town, and Lagoon-A-Beach (one of Utah's largest water parks).
Open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends April through September. Open in October for Halloween Frightmares. Campground.
Utah's one and only real amusement park. Lagoon is a great summer fun and offers a fun Halloween time event. It is definitely the most entertaining for small children. It seems that teens and adults enjoy it much more than kids. The water park is a nice addition on the hot summer days.
We enjoyed going to Lagoon, but after we did the children's toys, there wasn't much else to do---that's when we had to tag-team and one of us rode a ride while the other stayed with the kids. So we didn't stay as long as we thought we would. Overall a fun place, but I'm glad we left before it got dark, as I could see all the "older' crowd coming toward nightfall and it would get a little rowdier!
A great amusement park, and they have done a good job cleaning it up over the last few years. It used to be more Teenager-type fun, but now it is much more family friendly. The kiddy area is cute and has about a dozen different rides, including a kiddie roller coaster, cars to "drive", a jet ride, helicopter ride, boat ride and a few more I can't remember. My kids love it. :) We have gone here for the Halloween week as well, and that is fun too, plus a little cooler! :)
I've been going to Lagoon since I was very little. Growing up, my family would go every year. The rides are very diverse, and have only gotten better over the years. There are different rides for all ages, so the whole family can enjoy going to Lagoon. The only downsides are how busy it can get, and how expensive it is.
Lagoon, one of Utah's amusement and water parks, is full of kid and family friendly activities. Not only do they have a water park for those heat filled days, they also have a ride or activity for just about every type of person. Be sure to check to see when the "Bounce Back" days are - if you go during this time, they will give you another ticket to come back to the park for free!
Maybe this place pales in comparison to Disney Land and Six Flags, but it's a really great park for what's available in the area. They have a good handful of roller coasters, thrill rides, smaller amusement park rides, ferris wheel, shops, spook alleys, live entertainment, etc. My favorite coasters are Wicked and the Spider.
Well Lagoon is a classic here in Utah and they definitely have something for everyone. From games, to food, to picnics, to waterslides, and rides for all ages, you will definitely get your fill! Get in on the water rides fairly early because the lines get long, and save the evening for some fun musical programs and dippin dots!
I've been to Lagoon a few times in the last few years, and haven't ridden any rides. We just walked around because we had passes to get in. But it was really fun! There's awesome food all over the place, musical shows, magic shows, peacocks roaming around, and lots of fun things to see. My 2 year old loved riding a few of the kiddie rides...she loved the boats and planes and had a huge smile on her face.
We went to Lagoon for the first time last summer. We had a great day! There are a variety of rides to keep everyone happy. The food is pricey, as you would expect at an amusement park. We did not visit the water park on that visit but we hope to go back. I would recommend not going in the hottest part of the summer as that is really tiring. We have heard it is really fun at Halloween.
I love lagoon. If you're going to pay $44 for each adult, $39 age 4-to 60" tall and $28 ages 3 and under AND for parking, then you better plan to make a day of it! Or if you think you'd go more than once in the season, the season pass/parking pass is definitely the way to go!
TIP #1 If you go towards the beginning and end of season or on a cloudy day, its typically not as busy and you get more rides in!!!
TIP #2 if it is a hot day, ride the cliff hanger first, it will drench you and you will stay cooler longer. NOTE: If you are wearing socks, they will be wet so plan accordinly
TIP #3 They will allow you to bring in a cooler of goodies (cold beverages, lunch, snacks, etc)
TIP #4 They have group rates so even if you don't have enough in your group..form a group with some strangers in line! =)
I've been to Lagoon several times growing up and love it. I remember enjoying the swings and the airplanes the best! They were so fun cause it was like I was flying!
I did not like riding only one ride though, the jet star, why? Because it gave me whip lash one time and wasn't fun. But other than that, Lagoon is a wonderful place to go!
Yay, not everyone gets an amusement park in their state but we do! Lagoon definitely has something for all members of the family, they have rides for the little kiddos, rides for older kids/adults, and rides for everyone! They also have a waterpark that is included in your ticket price, games to play and win prizes, and lots of food choices. Try and go during the week and plan to spend all day and into the night, lines are usually pretty decent especially if you go a little later in the year. They have great icecream there and dippin dots, and our all time favorite thing to do is go see their broadway and pop shows! They have real people sing and dance to the pop songs of the past year!
While this isn't the best bang for you buck for a simple day-pass, season passes are totally worth it! You will get your money's worth after just going 2 or 3 times. It's a perfect summer activity. You can take the kids after school for a few hours and not feel like you have to go on every ride...just go the next time! Go on rides, watch some shows, and enjoy the waterpark on a hot day when you have some down time. My family did it for years as a teenager and we loved it!
Lagoon is fun, but look for a deal on tickets (like bounce back or $5 off with a Coke can) because it's very pricey. Mostly greasy 'amusement park' food, so if you want something healthier then bring lunch with you. The water park is fun, but gets crowded very quickly and you'll have to rent things like inner tubes. A few good wild rides, but mostly pretty tame. Many kid rides will not accomidate adults, so make sure your little one is prepared to ride alone or with a friend/sibling.
I wish this was more south because the drive is hard for youngsters. The food is pricey too. But it is the next best thing to disney land and much cheaper then disney. We go on the coasters in the morning and then go to the water park when it gets hot around noon then back to the rides in the evening. Not for really young kids but there are some things they could ride on. And the water fountain in the middle is fun for everyone. Worth it for a full day trip but if you only jane a couple hours then not a great option.
If you go, take advantage of discounts or their bounce back days. It can be expensive for the whole family. We tend to stick around the rides for the younger kids and mine have a great time. You can bring a cooler in the park and leave it at a pavilion to help save on food costs as well.
So my family goes to Disneyland every other year & had never been to Lagoon until last Summer. I have to say while nowhere really compares with Disneyland, Lagoon does offer a lot of family fun & so much closer to home. We spent the day there compliments of my husband's work. I don't recommend having them cater your lunch as that was definitely lacking, but the entertainment was great! My kids had a blast riding all the rides. Unfortunately, the lines were probably longer than anything we encountered at Disneyland (off peak), but it was still fun. One of our favorites was the train ride. The animals are amazing & so fun to look at. My kids favorite!
I have been to Lagoon as a baby, child, teenager, young adult, and now mom. It is always fun. If you can get over the sticker shock of the admission (there are plenty of discounts out there if you look such as on coke cans and sometimes on their website,) you will have no problem finding plenty to do. My 4 year old last year fell in love with Lagoon. I had also with me my teenage sister. Our ages ranged from 4-31 and we all had fun. My daughter enjoyed all the rides that she was tall enough for, loved the fountain that she was able to play in, and even sat down to enjoy the entertainment. There are plenty of rides for the little ones and plenty of thrill rides for us “bigger kids.” Lagoon does allow people to bring in their own food, which is a nice way to save some money. Admission also includes entrance into the waterpark and into Pioneer Village, which is basically a museum of old pioneer houses and is worth the time taken to look at them. Lagoon is defiantly an all-day event that will be enjoyed by the whole family.
They're not a main attraction by any means but there's a zoo at this amusement park where animals are held next to noisy rides in not-so-great conditions. It was shocked and how sad and sickly a lot of these animals looked.
After doing some digging it turns out Lagoon has had numerous Animal Welfare Act violations over the years from the USDA. Some are pretty horrific.
I also came across this YouTube video of local residents and patrons speaking out against the captive animals here: http://youtu.be/vSTxZRH8QXo
If you love animals, I'd advise another form of entertainment by going somewhere that doesn't profit form imprisoning and mistreating animals.
First off, if you like Lagoon and you want to go a ton of times in the summer it is by far cheaper to buy a season pass. We bought season passes before our kids were born, one day was all rides, and then the other was the water park. We always have a ton of fun when we go to Lagoon, and we go on Sundays. Lagoon is open on Sundays and there are no lines what so ever. The longest we had to wait for a ride was less then 5 min, usually we just get right on. So Sunday's are the best days to go. There are a ton of great rides! A little something for everyone, though the kid ages would be more 8 and up, they do have a small part of the park that is for littler kids about ages 5 and up I would say. But if you go for one day, it IS pricey. So if you want to make your money worth it for a day pass, go on Sunday. :)
